Rebar work on first section of ground floor nearing completion. We could see concrete very soon, possibly by the weekend. It looks like it will be done in about 5-6 sections.

SSP Insiders have it right. It's not top down construction. As for this cranky old troll, commonsense wins again. They are building a staging platform.

but a staging platform could also be top down construction. Because the "stage" will be a permanent part of the building, and they will continue to excavate under it even as they use it for porting materials and equipment.

That makes sense...or am i crazy?

SSP trolls (namely WhipperSnapper) also said this building would never be built and it's developer could only pull off mid rises. But hey, looks like he was wrong again. Even with facts provided you are in denial. You seem to know a lot about a building you said would never happen. Again, I will listen to UT insiders over an SSP troll any day.

Caltrane, the amount of rebar going into that section is proof it's not just for staging and that it's not a temporary piece of the puzzle. The first floor of this tower is going to be the ground floor. Again my troll WS is only saying the opposite of whatever I post. Had I said this is no longer top down construction, he be pointing out footprint of an Apple Store in the rebars layout. If I end up being wrong I will admit to it, it's just a fucking forum. Something WS has never done though numerous times he should have.

It does make sense. I don't think it's correct. My brief understanding of top down is the suspended floors serve as the bracing. They will still need to install tiebacks, rakers, etc. to keep the 6 storey high retaining wall beneath the staging platform from buckling.

So I will admit I was wrong about that not being a temp foundation for a staging platform, however nobody is correct who says it's not top down, nor 100% standard pit construction. Both sides are correct here.

People can choose to be told by others on here what to think, or like me they can go directly to the source as I did.

Hi Andrew,

We have elements being built at grade along with simultaneous works being completed at the full excavation elevation. As a result, it is a form of hybrid top down construction, as we are working on multiple elevations of construction simultaneously. Its ground level form work for construction staging and site logistics on top of an active excavation pit. But, its not 100% top down construction. I trust this answers your question.

Why do you always do this? Mizrahi is a businessman who made his fortunes in dry cleaning. How is his resume definitive proof? I'm a real estate speculator/developer too. The obviously choice would have been to contact GFL. Regardless, Mizrahi made it abundantly clear this is not top down construction.
