Thinking of the McLaren, my thoughts are also drawn toward that nearby development site along the riverbank, at one time owned by Concert out of Vancouver. Do they still own it? I'd have to think that site would be worth revisiting again.

^I did as well. There was a newer version with two towers, but it never saw the light of day.

Infill builder abandons apartment complex to avoid web of red tape, $750,000 hydrant charge.

Red tape is still driving up the cost of condos and new homes in mature neighbourhoods, homebuilders warned city council as it endorsed a new infill plan Tuesday.

“Infill is still a very challenging environment for builders,” said Sydney Bond, a builder who came to represent the Alberta chapter of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association.

The development taxes, land costs, cost to upgrade public infrastructure plus the long and unpredictable permitting processes are all reducing affordability, she said, urging council’s urban planning committee to move quickly.

Personally, I think that look would have aged quickly, no matter how well executed. Overall, if Concert is not fired up to develop the site, then perhaps another party would approach it more enthusiastically? If I lived in Edmonton, that site would have my interest as a place to reside.

The Falcon towers will have a prominent placement just left of the CWB tower. They will fill that gap between the Atco and Standard life center towers and CWB

At a possible 170 and 143 meters they will be right in your face when looking north.

Even if they come in at 125 and 143 meters they will still look amazing.

I always liked concerts ski lodge development.

I also really liked ... maybe along 109. I think it was called cascadia. Though I can’t remember.

Gawd, but that's a tragic project. I'd move, rather than have that product outside my window.

The "06" suites are tragic. Almost no windows and you get to back on the elevator core.

Honestly... do we need a generation of hack architects to retire before we can move on from their mediocrity?

Judging by the quality of the website the architecture is fitting. Bulgarian bunker chic? I guess they figure since it's not in the classiest part of Old Strathcona that the building should match. SMH...

Then again every bubble finds its level as it were so I am sure they'll have no trouble selling it...
