The pizza place that's there now is closing after today, so I guess they'll be demolishing fairly soon.

Oh wow. The amount of development all over Lower Mainland is astonishing. So many tower projects all over the place.

I rarely find myself in that part of town, but I was surprised to learn that they already started building the new Safeway store rather than one that would be more tightly integrated like (I assume) the Burquitlam one is.

It's amazing how many towers are slated for development all over the Lower Mainland. I do worry about the Lower Mainland looking like Sao Paulo in 30 years if it keeps up the development:

^Never realized Colossus has that large parking spot to the far right. That has to be around 500 stalls. I've been there on weekends and have always found parking up front.

Looks like a budget version of the UBC pharmacy building (not a bad thing, if executed well!)

That interchange should've been freeflow from the get go. You have to wait forever to get through.

some more Coquitlam pre-application proposals for the Austin Heights neighbourhood

25 storey mixed use at 1143 Austin - on the block east of the safeway redevelopment

13 Storey mixed use 1029 Ridegway Ave - just north of the Safeway redevelopment, will replace the old post office

I hope they plan to improve the frequency of bus service along that street, which I believe is the 152. Don't want all those people in those apartments driving cars.

The same thought occurred to me. Nice looking proposal and I, too, hope that it is well executed.

No way! Maybe in the suburbs, but Vancouver will make sure this will never happen. There would always be rustic charm and abandoned shops/houses outside downtown.

Would be pretty funny sight to see... Burnaby creeping up on Vancouver border with Sao Paulo like density, meanwhile Vancouver still has SFH neighbourhoods.

If there is any place this absurd image could become a reality, its here.
