It still looks pretty nice, but it seems like everything in this town gets watered down from the original design.

It appears the floorplates were downsized by 10% or so. Looks kinda dinky to me.

I think the newest rendering is not accurately depicting the true size because the developer, Allen Morris, latest press release states the office component is 230K sqft. and 14 floors. When the project was originally announced, the office was 185K sqft. and 12 floors. What is most interesting is the floor heights vary from 14 to 16 feet (see loopnet listing). This will be a very tall 14 story building and the tallest in West Midtown.

It may appear that the floors have been downsized because the floors are more uniform with the net effect being more total square footage.

In this (and earlier renderings) it looks like no two floors have the same dimensions.

it definitely looks more like stacked blocks in the older renderings. Regardless, I can't wait for it to start.

That's the old Wonderroot site, so I assume it's Urban Realty Partners (developers of the Leonard and the George down the road). I've heard they plan to break ground by the end of the year...

Crazy how much apartments/developments are either U/C or planned on Memorial Drive. My dream is that it's one long urban boulevard lined with midrises from roughly the Madison Yards development to the Capitol building. With this level of development, it may happen over the next two decades.

It probably won't ever happen in Cabbagetown, given the historical requirements, but I'm okay with that. As for the rest of that stretch, I'd say it's very likely within the next decade. Madison Yard to Tye street is already fully committed with the exception of Cummins Landscape Supply, Grady Fleet Management, and the parking lot in front of Habitat for Humanity.

Looks like work is starting across from Manuel's Tavern

(I took this shot yesterday)

Can't tell from this map on their website if that line of units abutting North Ave are running behind Buddy's or not. So, maybe they won't tear down the old house which has been so many things over the years: quirky used bookstore, florist, arts & crafts store, law office and more that I can't remember

First they put that big-box low rise, cancer center on Peachtree street with its blank walls facing Juniper and now they want put up a big ugly parking deck. Emory is becoming a very bad downtown neighbor.

Agree, that is effing horrendous....Yet buildings like Eviva and Opus never get built, come on Emory you can do better that this pile of shit...

My thought and hope is that Emory Midtown needs a 3K stall employee garage to accommodate a major near-term expansion. We shall see.

There was never a mention of Opus getting canceled, its going to get built. Unless something drastic happens to the economy soon, I am pretty sure its going to break ground this year.

If they build that parking deck, I hope that they could at least add some retail to the bottom of the building. Central Atlanta progress need to seriously step up their game, like midtown alliance has recently.

Plans for an expansion at their "Midtown" that is actually downtown campus have been on the books for several years but were delayed by the recession. From memory, they planned @500 bed expansion with half at Clifton and half at."Midtown". The new Clifton tower was completed last year.
