The way it is now, the bus shelters look lost in front of an expansive concrete wall.
The first reason is that they demolished them. But those curved glass panels were very expensive to replace.

Why demolish? Why couldn't they have dismantled them instead? As for the glass panels, they could have kept a few from other stations that were demolished for good.

Most likely because dismantling and storing is more expensive than demolishing and replacing the way they did, especially when you consider that they must maintain them for 30 years. Since replicating the existing design wasn’t a requirement, they most likely went with the most cost effective option (in the long term) that still meets the requirements.

I don’t think those curved panels were glass, they looked like plastic (acrylic?) and they clouded up after a while. In some stations they replaced them with sheet metal.

Aren't/weren't there ice issues with that style of shelter? I seem to remember a lot of Beware of falling ice signs at Transitway shelters winters past.

While I appreciate the common design that tied into the OC Transpo branding, the red shelters were a bit of a mess. The design required staff to go around after every snowstorm and rake the roofs clean, otherwise the sun would warm the shelter enough that the snow would slide onto the platform. I don't mind that we have a new common design theme, the bus shelters are the same model OC has been installing for a few years, but with the roof shaped like the larger stations.

On another note, as well as the repeating "Blair" signage being installed along the platform, I noticed that the platform information displays have been installed and powered on there.

The same problem exists again at the non-OCTranspo, privately-owned bridge level bus stops at the Rideau Centre. The stupid awning outside Nordstrom drips rainwater, slush, and drops icicles and snow, often onto unsuspecting people waiting to board their bus at Mackenzie King "station".

It's really kind of disgraceful how little thought the Rideau Centre owners (like Lansdown Live after them) put into bus passenger comfort at what are major transit origin points.

The hours of the confederation line: http://www.ligneconfederationline.ca/news/ready-for-rail-how-often-will-it-come/

I assume the trillium line is operation at the same times as it currently does until stage 2 opens, and they`ll give updated times (if it's different at all) closer to when it opens.

They are extending the trillium line so that the platform will be under the platform for the confederation line (maybe about a train's length longer i think?) so yes there will probably be some improvements. (part of the reason why there are not fare gates, or next train indicators is they're waiting for the new platform to be finished and opened for them).

And i can't help you with your other questions.

Looks like LED Dot displays :https://twitter.com/JimWatsonOttawa/status/989186588323254272

It seems there will be cell service in the tunnel courtesy of Telus, no word about wifi : http://ottawacitizen.com/news/local-news...ement-for-cell-service-in-the-lrt-tunnel

The platform will be switching sides and relocate slightly northward to be right underneath the confederation line rails. I'm not sure if that constitutes an upgrade.

I don't believe there are any plans to provide WiFi.

The upgrade to the platform will happen after Stage 2. Not really surprising considering the platform will only be open for about 17 months until the Trillium Line is shut down for 16 months for Stage 2 upgrades.

Regarding connections between Tremblay station and the Trainyards shopping complex, this interesting discussion keeps showing up on the lobbying registry over the past few weeks:

Interesting, so Controlex Corporation (who manage Trainyards) are behind the lobby. You would think if they cared about foot traffic they would make the shopping centre pedestrian friendly. Drilling down the ottwatch link you provided, they have been lobbying the following people about this:
  • Zhao, Jack Q. : Senior Structural Advisor
  • Egli, Keith : Councillor, Ward 9
  • Gonthier, Alain : Director, Infrastructure Services
  • Cloutier, Jean : Councillor, Ward 18
  • Arpin, Serge : Chief of Staff
  • Guest, Robyn : Director Policy
  • Willis, Stephen : GM, Planning, Infrastructure & Eco Dev

I assume they'll continue saying the same type of thing they're using now at transitway stations, as well as trillium line stations. (i don't have any picture of video to show on an example of).

I thought this was originally planned to be built by VIA itself, as part of a partnership with Canderel to build an office building on VIA lands facing Terminal Ave.

I guess that is dead and Controlex is now looking for a publicly funded connection?

Kinda like this..?

Like @corynv mentioned, there are number of those signs (of various sizes) at Transitway and Trillium Line stations.

I'm guessing that since they're a recent addition (only added less than a year ago) they weren't included in the Confederation Line station plans.
