Why is that damn light still functional? Just close it already and reroute traffic to 64th or Nordel. Every day in the afternoon rush against the flow traffic backs up significantly on 91 north due to that damn light. Reminds me of Shughnessy and Mary Hill Bypass intersection.

I didnt get a good look, but it seems like they've paved under the nordel overpass for the bridge counter-flow.

I'm wondering why they arent just extending the merge lane all the way to the 72nd interchange and creating a collector of sorts. Seems like a missed opportunity.

Yet another semi rollover at the 91 Connector and 17 today. Snowballing the traffic on River Road heading to the 17, 99 south in Richmond and 99 and 17A interchange and River Road south was backed up to Deas Island Park. So much for that announcement last year of fixing that intersection. What's the holdup? Waiting for Trevana's excuse.

Early works are suppose to start this summer.

Apparently more detailed diagrams / designs will be posted soon.

Of course we all know what “soon” can mean on updating government websites.

Just wondering, is it ever possible to grade-separate Highway 91 Connector?

what do you mean exactly? elevated freeway? it basically is "grade separated by being a free flowing freeway in a RoW...

Or so you mean the connector between the 91 and the 17 (SFPR)?

Still waiting for detailed diagrams regarding the Sunbury interchange project. From the vague diagrams seen it may or may not be (or some movements will be but others won’t).

It says in the description that a traffic light on the connector will be removed...

I’m asking because the traffic light on the 91-17 connector is so close to both highways that the only sensible option (IMO) is to get rid of the scale and close the intersection permanently.

Update: I just realized that it’s been addressed. I should have read news more carefully.

Those stupid new lights they added off Nordel short cycle. It has made traffic even worse.

Biggest problem is that whole area is bog. You would have no choice but to drive the pillar foundations to bedrock if you wanted something resembling seismic compliance. It wouldn't be cheap.

I swear people don’t read my posts, so here is a link to the project page again.

And here is the only image released so far regarding the project.

Make what you can out of it:

3 U-turns to go from 17E to 91-17 connector: Nice.

Seriously though, make 91/Nordel free-flow already. Roundabouts that accommodate trucks are a good compromise (if that's feasible...?).

Yeah that is odd, especially since the simplest direct ramp could be built instead.

In the end though we need to wait for more detailed designs. These seem quite preliminary.
