This (link) says that the office will open in 2020 which means we would need to see some movement later this year. There was some soil samples activity on the apartment site just last week.

Australian real estate investment firm Drapac Capital Partners is eying the purchase of 50 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd., a site once planned as the centerpiece of downtown’s Allen Plaza mixed-use project.

Drapac Capital has the site under contract from Atlanta real estate company Regent Partners.


For Drapac Capital, 50 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd. offers 1.4 million square feet for commercial development. “The area requires patience, but the city is rapidly urbanizing,” said Chief Operating Officer Sebastian Drapac

An affiliate of Portman Holdings LLC, known for developing some of the largest hotels in the city’s core, has acquired a more than one-acre site on the Eastside Trail.

Portman paid $5.5 million for the property at the southwest corner of Irwin Street and the Beltline in Old Fourth Ward. The site is between Studioplex and Atlanta Stove Works, and sits near the popular food hall Krog Street Market. The deal closed May 9.

The plan is to design and develop “a very cool lifestyle boutique hotel,” said Ambrish Baisiwala, CEO of Portman Holdings.

Walked by this morning and absolutely nothing was done, the tractor is just in a ready-to-work pose.

I'm guessing it will start in earnest on Tuesday. It did seem a bit odd that they would start work on a Friday before a 3 day weekend.

Now Brock Built Homes is proposing to build one of the first major projects on the Westside – Echo Street Communities – at the intersection of Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW and Northside Drive.

The project is envisioned to include 135,000 square feet of retail and commercial space, 302,000 square feet of office space, a 120-room hotel, 40 townhouses and 650 multifamily residences. That totals about 1.3 million square feet of space – nearly double what was envisioned in the land use plan.

On a real note though, another message board I went to for a while implemented likes and it drastically cut down on unnecessary quotes. That would do wonders for posts with pictures in them.

Plans were just submitted in Atlanta to convert the property at 551 Ponce de Leon Avenue, just a short walk from Ponce City Market.

“It was originally built as a hotel, but was sold and converted to a rooming house about four years ago for student housing with a communal kitchen,” says the application from Gimbal Group LLC.
