Looks like its leaning to the right. How tall is the cap going to be? I hope the cladding will be textured and lit anything but all white, all the time.

First of all, I like it so my next comment is not meant as a negative knock on it. But I thought there would be more of a randomness to the stacking than there is. In fact its a simple pattern with the 1st and 3rd stack lining up and the 2nd and 4th. Sort of a zig zag zig zag. I think that disqualifies its comparison to Jenga which is completely random unless you force a pattern on it. I think Armybrat's Rubik's cube analogy is a more accurate description. I just don't see anything Jenga about it. NOT that that's a bad thing. The public gave it that distinction anyway, not the designers or developers.

1. There are no blank walls
2. The podium does not emulate the tower of Babel
3. The design is unique from any American city (Skyhouse cough cough...)
4. The homeless live many, many blocks away.
5. Its the tallest building in Austin, TX!!

Agree, many reasons to like this. Not sure that it's unique though. URL at Harborside in Jersey City looks similar.

Actually I saw a homeless man sleeping on one of the benches by the power station across from the Library a week ago. There are most definitely homeless in the vicinity. There is not a location in Downtown where I haven't seen homeless to one extent or another.

Yeah, I saw two walking in that area and then settling in for the night under the 2nd Street Bridge. They didn't bother me, even though I was wandering around with a bike, camera and tripod one night around 10 pm.

I think the vertical balcony "slots" give it more of a random "jenga" feel than the building actually is. If there were no slots or if they were all lined up orderly, the building would look far less "jenga-y".

This is an interesting point - a case could be made that too much "Jenga-ism" would make the design less appealing, and too dated. The shifts do enough to create a clear break in an otherwise boring glass parallelogram, and still to keep with basic aesthetic rules of symmetry and connections among various masses. It has a decent chance to stand the test of time, and not looking terribly "they did this stuff in the teens" some twenty years from now.

URL Harborside is the three-headed American parent of this (heads 2 & 3 will soon start growing).

They probably could have accomplished what you're thinking just by shifting one of the sections out more by 1 order of magnitude. So that way the "zig zags" arent the exact same distance each time.
