I'm actually surprised that there hasn't been more claims to inside knowledge. What I don't understand is if 'they' know the decision what's the good of knocking 3 cities off the list? Why 3 and why those 3, if in fact there are actually 19 cities that be mentioned? Who knows, and in one sense who cares. But it's a fun distraction until the real choice is announced.

Has sayitaintso ever gave a scoop besides his Amazon data DUMP that turned out to be true? I can tell you unequivocally Atlanta is still in the game so I think his story is questionable with respect to that data point. Personally, I believe Philly and Atlanta have the best shot. Why? I think Amazon wants to be on the East Coast and both cities have talent, ability to attract talent, transportation infrastructure and a relatively lower CoL compared to the other cities.

I know the press is favoring NOVA, but as someone that grew up in VA and lived in Arlington for 6 years I can tell you there is no way this will happen. Unlike Atlanta and Philly, NOVA is very anti-growth. Literally every development (commercial or residential) is met with a fierce NIMBY militia. Disney wanted to build a park in NOVA in the early 90's and they vetoed it. Not to mention, NOVA CoL is already higher than Seattle's.

Just my $0.02.

I've long suspected the front runners are Atlanta and Philly for the reasons you mention.

NOVA and MD are not urban enough for Amazon's likings, even with the various edge cities that are densifying. Further, DC in general is already super expensive AND commuting is a nightmare for most people. The metro is not really all that wide-spread though great if you are near it (and work near it). That's not most of DC. Some part of every commute for most people involves a car.

Atlanta is not dissimilar but it is moving in the right direction. Because of the COL and it's improving outlook on transportation investment, I think it would be selected above the DC Metroplex.

the latest & greatest, and I think I can say this now, is that it will no longer be called the SLS Tower because SLS has pulled out of the project as the hotel operator. So there will be no hotel component to it. It will just be residential, and probably a few stories shorter. The final floor count is still not finalized, but it will likely be around 550' tall, maybe slightly less. The massing will be similar, there will still be a podium, but it will be a little shorter and contain the amenities floors instead of the hotel.
For now it is just being referred to by its address, 311 South Broad.

Hmm...mix of rentals and condos like 1911 Walnut? I am skeptical there is demand for a 550' tall luxury condo. At least at one location. That's banking on a lot of buyers wanting to live on Broad Street. By the way, I met with the sales team at 1911 Walnut on Monday, and the building's going to be friggin amazing.

The condos themselves will all be amazing. With high end finishes, great views (current plan to start condos on the 32nd floor but may be high 20s), balconies, optional fireplaces. Two amenity decks; condo owners can also use the apartment deck (but apartment users can't use the condo amenity deck). Indoor pool and outdoor pool, grilling area, Peloton room, Yoga room, private spa for residents, chef and demonstration kitchen. It's gonna be sick. I may buy. There are some commitments. Seems on track to get the final ones for 2019 groundbreaking.

Man, really good amenities. Just curious what the condo fees will be. You should buy one...lots of us will be the envy of your new pad if it happens. When I decide to retire, this building might be one of my choices.

Condo fees will be around $1.00-$1.10 per square foot, which is in line with 10 Rittenhouse and 1706 Rittenhouse.

Why the heck doesnt a sensible " almost luxury" hotel brand, like JW Marriott go for something like that? That brand is well established and conspicuously absent here.
