Does anybody know when 1105 West Peachtree will excavate? This project is my favorite because it will have an impressive presence on the Midtown skyline from most directions, especially from Georgia Tech. Thoughts?

I noticed Friday on lunch that the parking lot on that property is now closed

That appears to be from ULI’s Design studio of how to best activate the area around Ponce & 3rd.

It seems a bit out of date given "Act 2" proposes a development in the location of the Standard and "Act 3" proposes a development where the Anthem IT center is going.

I do like the greenspace though. Maybe a modified version for this is in the works.

Beautiful but I will NEVER sit at that table in the Brazilian restaurant that is just below the sidewalk. Nasty!

I saw a crane at the Spring Street development today. Have all the permits been filed?

Apparently they have started construction on the apartments in the first parking lot north of GSU stadium. Fencing is up and they have started removing the parking lot surface. The lot is small for the number of units so the density will be inline with midtown it appears to me. GSU/Carter have moved rapidly on the initial phases and I for one am happy to see the progress after 35 years of broken promises from the Braves and Fulco/Atlanta.

Also, they have been doing soil tests on the corner lot/Lexus Lot where the first office building will be built so I expect to see construction start there soon as well.

The site of the old GA DDS Trailer Offices across from the Ramada has also been fenced off. GSU is trying to move rapidly and build an 8000 seat arena having sent out requests for design for it. The whole corridor will be unrecognizable in 5 years just like the 10th/Spring St area today compared to 2013.

It looks like Carter updated the Phase 1 mix to include 300 apartments. Originally they proposed 120 townhouse style units:

Quote:
Phase I of the private development includes:
* Up to 300 multi-family apartment units
* 55,000 sf retail
* Redevelopment of Georgia Avenue, including existing retail and retail in new standalone buildings and creative/loft space
* Up to 850 bed student housing project
* Corporate build-to-suit office

What I love most about this development is the proximity to downtown. No, it does not have a dedicated transit lane yet, but it will provide a fair amount of residences, office space, and retail to close proximity in-town and create a demand that supports the expanded transit efforts. It also provides a nice diversification to the walkable in-town neighborhood destinations and places to live, providing some relief to the few walkable neighborhoods in town.

...and it creates a gateway for those arriving into Atlanta from the Airport via the Connector as well as MARTA. WIN, WIN, WIN!!

I agree! My preference would be we built up the northern ends of West End, Adair Park, and Mechanicsville, as it would be better for Atlanta in the long run due it's proximity with MARTA and downtown, although having Summerhill increase in density on the east side of the connector is absolutely also a welcome balance IMO, especially with the proposed transit expansions. The nice thing about the amount of room we have to develop it's not an either or scenarios. Both are likely to occur.
