Let me say that first of all, I was Ambien-typing. I was also trying to use humor in response to ToTheSky's disparaging post. I was trying to say something that was so blatantly not true that it would be obvious that I didn't really mean it (the "official" part). It obviously fell flat as you can't hear sarcasm in written text. My apologies for that.

So I take the blame. But I meant everything I said about not attacking each others' character and accepting that everyone has an opinion.

So I officially apologize for my poor choice of word.

Sir...no one falls flatter on humor and sarcasm than me. I'm am the official king of bad misunderstood humor and sarcasm. You have nothing to apologize for. You are nowhere in my league

But I must say, I do like this building. I would have preferred something like the Devon Energy Center in OKC at least first and then this, but this will do for now. The only time I'm a bit disappointed in this design is when I compare the two. My expectation VS reality. I would imagine not everyone likes the Devon tower. Maybe this would fit our skyline better than Devon. However, I can imagine looking up at the residential portion soaring way above the office portion like a mansion on top of a mountain. I'm am intrigued by the uniqueness of this building and am growing to appreciate it in its current form. To ToTheSky's point, I don't have to be a fashion expert to know what kind of clothes I like, and I don't expect everyone to like my shoes. If everyone agreed on everything all the time, I would go elsewhere. Holy Shit!! This time I like something a bunch of you don't like. I would agree with you but then we'd all be wrong. SARCASM

I feel that this tower will look really good! Far too long has the Extended Stay and his bug surface parking lot has squandered this spot. Ready for this to get going and for downtown to grow more into the NW quadrant.

Wouldn't the northwest quadrant be further north? It's gonna be fronting 6th Street. It's on the edge of the West End by my districting standard.

True, but if you look at all northwest of this building, it really shifts towards small houses and offices very quickly. There's that Rise Apartments building (or whatever it's being used for now) and Se7en apartments, and thats it. This building, among others, could be the beginning of a merger between the highrises near campus, and downtown.

I think the area between 6th And MLK is going to be highrise free for the foreseeable future other than some filling in closer to Guadalupe and along and just north of w6th. Not a bad thing really. I like how that neighborhood is being inclosed.

I think the eastern end of downtown is where we will start seeing in filler between the Capitol and campus. Hopefully we will get some nice highrises in the new Brackenridge development, and maybe if they eventually bulldoze those parking garages on Trinity. That would make for an impressive skyline stretch seen from the east or west - from mt. bonnell for example - from the river, all the way to the new towers going up in West Campus.

CVCs prevent much of eastern downtown from being more than midrises.
