It’s nice seeing a unified regional design, but it’s so bland. I’m not even talking about the allo thing.

The train design with the black lines is awful too. Hopefully they’ll add more colours.

The thing is, it is not unified. If all transit providers adopted a similar branding, it would be something else. The AMT and STM had similar signage, now exo scrapping the AMT branding, and the REM having it's own thing too, it will be a mess.

Highest operating streetcar in the world that takes you from Downtown to Whyte Avenue.

So the CAQ, which has the most chances of being the next QC governing party, will be announcing their Montréal transit plans today. Some of it leaked yesterday and it contains 40km of REM extensions on the South Shore.

That bridge is really scarry/shoddy in real life though.

What makes it the highest operating streetcar? Do you mean just the drop from over the bridge because the route itself looks very flat.

Highest streetcar bridge crossing in the world. I would think there are streetcars operating at higher elevations than Edmonton.

At the risk of starting another pointless semantics war, there is no possible way to define that crossing as the highest streetcar bridge in the world. Edmonton's 'streetcar' does not run on the street, so if you call it a streetcar, then you must also call Denver's LRT a streetcar, and that is at a higher elevation.

^ he’s probably referring to the high level streetcar, which isn’t part of the transit system, it’s operated in the summer by a society and mostly for recreational use

Who knows if it’s the highest in the world. It is pretty high up as it crosses the bridge

Interview regarding REM and CDPQ Infra by Caisse. Unusual spot on BNN. Answers criticisms about scope changes and the schedule getting pushed. Makes one wonder what could happen if Toronto's subway gets privatized by an Ontario PC government after they upload it from the city or even GO Transit. Revenues are much closer to 100% farebox recovery in Toronto, and there is a definite economic moat around the subway and probably GO RER.

What are people willing to pay for mobility and accessibility in rush hour, etc. For the record traffic can get much worse in Toronto than it already is. Consider per GPS data on people's phones etc. that people spend 102 hours in congestion in LA versus 47 hours in Toronto. Even Montreal actually comes in at 50 hours per year. All per Inrix; http://inrix.com/scorecard/# Imagine the revenue possibilities if traffic congestion doubled in Toronto? Hwy 407 has been a crown jewel for companies like SNC Lavalin that invested in it.

There's also the Dom Luis bridge in Porto, which carries a light rail line 85m above the Douro (High Level bridge is 48m), but, I guess, it's not technically a "streetcar". Streetcars did run on it until 1959:

Was out on King Street last night at the bar, and I saw the TTC testing the new streetcars. King Street Project looking so good. So many people out on the street and a pure party vibe, chill vibe. Love it so much, could never imagine a bus on this route. Gotta hold on to our streetcars tight if Dougie Doug is in charge.

Hasn't King St always been like that in recent years? Particularly in the summer. Are you saying it's significantly better than last Summer?

With the pilot project I can definitely seeking Street being perfect for a chill, partying atmosphere. So glad to see the street more alive without so many cars in the way.
