Not long ago OMA2 were the two tall twin towers in Brentwood.

Now they are hardly visible.

Triomphe to come. Gilmore station to come. Solo 3. Mall Tower 3.

What a change to this area.

Now that the tower one is topped off, how long will it take to complete the interior finishings of the units?

Look at all those trees. Will cast eternal shadows onto the sidewalks. Wonder why they do shadow analysis on buildings but not trees

I don't think this will be a problem at all. The sun will reach at least as much sidewalk as we see (being farther away than the camera, it will reach more), and of course it moves. One of the benefits of some of the towers at Solo is to shadow the sun-baked sidewalk along Lougheed in summer. Without shade, that stretch is unbearable. In winter, there will not be much sun to block. So I don't think this will be a problem at all. And hopefully the trees will help soften the street traffic for pedestrians.

All of that said, the biggest downside of these projects to me personally is that the sun is so low in winter that for a good chunk of the day they will block sun to most of the neighbourhood - including my house.

Those model trees are for demonstration purposes only. In actuality they may not/need not plant as many trees.

The onsite execution, so far, is very faithful to the model.

I think that's great, because the plaza around the tree seems quite nice.

What about Milano, the 3 Lumina towers, Fulton House.... no wonder every time I go there, harder and harder to find street parking!

Holy.

it would be fun to see an overlay of Brentwood town centre with all the under proposed, under construction sites.

There are some big sites that will still be developed - largest of which is the Olympia tile block. That development looked massive.

Trees in the winter will be devoid of leaves, enabling the sunshine to go through. We need sunshine the most during those dark wet seasons.

With that said, I do think having partial building shadows over pedestrian malls in the summer is good. Sometimes the efforts to prevent shadowing is way too extreme.

All models show a lot of outdoor space with stairs. One would think the traffic volumes will require escalators all over the place.

Possibly old news: One year to go until The Amazing Brentwood mega mall opens
Quote:
Work is quickly progressing on The Amazing Brentwood ahead of its much-anticipated opening in the spring of 2019.

...

The tower is hard to miss in the emerging Brentwood Town Centre skyline in Burnaby. According to SHAPE, the local developer behind the redevelopment, which is Metro Vancouver’s current largest project. This skyscraper has 591 homes and is the fourth tallest building in the region – just narrowly behind Living Shangri-La, Trump Tower International Hotel & Tower Vancouver, and Solo Altus.

Tower ONE has 300 rental homes, 291 market homes, and its base includes a portion of the new shopping mall. Its residents will move in next year.

When all phases of the redevelopment on the 28-acre site are complete, there will about a dozen towers with a total of 10,500 homes – accounting for roughly a quarter of the approximate 40,000 homes planned for Brentwood.

...

There will have to be some for accessibility (we have to be at 110% in Metro Van! ). This youtube video from last year shows some and I'm sure there'll be more inside any multi-story retail.

Final stretch for T1. Coming into work this morning I can see what looks like the mechanical room box pop up on the roof. Maybe ~ 6-8 months left to go?

Lots of things should be in final phases at this point.

I imagine designers are at work for tenants now that final layout of commercial units are complete too.

Lots more building to be done yet!
