This building is growing so fast! When do you guys predict it will top out? I am always looking for an excuse to visit Chicago, as it's just a 4.5-hour train or bus ride for me. Seeing this building topped out would be a good excuse.

Shit, seeing it U/C is a good enough excuse. In 14 years of watching this site there has never been a reinforced concrete structure that was as fascinating to watch rise as this. Second only to 150 N. Riverside overall

For real. At this point, I'm happy for the curtain wall delay to continue. I think the concrete structure alone is fascinating.

I'll post some pics later/another day but as I'm in Chicago, I went for a bike ride along the lake. Vista is visible from certain angles at North Avenue Beach and north. I was trying to imagine what it'll be like at double the height. Pretty great. OBP also visible from basically everywhere.

Oh yeah and Vista was peeking out into my hotel room view in Gold Coast.

Correct, it is 101 floors, including significant mezzanines, from grade level. There will be a public entrance to the pedway stystem at grade along Field Boulevard, thus the height of 1191’ and 101 floors are the official figures for the building.

I know concrete takes the same amount of time to set, but they probably don't need to spend all that time doing the forms on the lower section. Hope this trend stays
The lower tier topping off doesn't mean the other part of the tower will necessarily speed up. From what I've observed they're essentially 2 different job sites. I think the main portion has been on a 4-5 day deck cycle for a while now (ever since they got past the lobby area?)

Sweet! Looks like the thread title needs updating then!

Finally got to see this thing in real life yesterday. Damn - impressive. That's one of the most impressive buildings size wise I've seen and it's only like half way up (maybe not even half way). I think it's because you can see the whole thing that it adds to its size. Wide building.. Can't even imagine what it'll be like at nearly 1200 feet. I'll try and post some pics later.

How far away is the first setback from topping off? It looks like it would be ready for its next inflection point, which is where it would stop and let its two siblings continue climbing.

And once that first "tower" tops off, it's more or less half the distance to the final height ... right?

^if you look in that photo, you can see the east core form work has started to be removed. The handrails and forms hanging from the long beams are gone, and just the beams and interior forms remain. That core is topped out.

I made a very rough comparison of where its at utlizing rendering + pic via same perspective. Redline = estimate.

I don't have photoshop, so its at least something. Did it on powerpoint lol.

Your red line looks perfect to me. That's definitely where we are. Good work

The comparison on the previous page just got me thinking. We're just past half way in height but as a fraction of total volume of concrete, the structure is over 2/3 complete, perhaps 3/4 if we account for the parking/podium levels. My fascination continues.

Will we now see Vista growing in height incrementally faster? Granted, a concrete pour will still require the same drying/setting time, but it still might speed up the crews by a about a day per floorplate (6 days instead of 7) I would think, since they will be focused on one less tower core.

Maybe I'm just impatient....

Jesus.

I almost wish that it won't ever be clad in glass at all; leave it as a massive, hulking, dehumanizing beast of a building. The city will put the heads of its enemies on pikes on the roof... as a warning to all the lesser cities out there...
