The worst thing you can put across the street from a form like Vancouver House is a cheap gimmicky version of it that has similar curves wallpapered over an almost-vertical extrusion. Even the balconies don't follow the wavy pattern! Quite confident the UDP will reject it, even in its current low-standards/retarded state.

Also, the renders look pumped out of an offshore render farm that plopped the project on a tower-less version of the downtown peninsula from 80 years ago.

^^^ I like the overall massing of the project but, maybe it is just the rendering that it reminds me of bent fins (damaged) on a radiator. I'm not sure that is a look you should be going for.....and very random placing at that.

The details are where this adaptation of someone else's style falls flat.. This is just flashy rendering too. It could get even worse than that.

The massing is strange.....not sure how this thing would look as an architectural piece. It really doesn't fit that well in the space it's trying to occupy IMO. I see this being redesigned later on.

Yeah....Not sure what I think about this. More renderings needed me thinks.

Needs a new architect rather than more renderings

Well the train is unpowered, so poses no threat! Either that or Kitchener is getting battery powered trains.

When you see how brutally ugly the catenary wires are through that part of town, it's not hard to see why they'd be omitted from a render.

I'm looking at them right now on that section of King Street and they are actually not that noticeable. The Hydro lines on the side streets are worse.

The first time I drove up King after the underpass had opened, I had to pull off at Union as my vision was starting to blur. I am serious - to me it was so ugly that it made me tear up. And I'm an LRT supporter. To be fair, it wasn't just the catenary system, it was the forest of catenary posts, hydro poles, traffic lights, street signs. I found it overwhelming, especially in the KCI to GRH stretch. We know that Kitchener doesn't do a lot of pretty, but man oh man!

I just watched an LRT that is testing go up that stretch. The hydro poles in front of CTV/GRH and that stretch of King Street are the real eyesore. They have been there for over 60 years. There are about 6 or 7 sets of wire strung on each pole. The catenary and poles for the LRT are fairly clean looking overall. https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.4571817,-...dPkAYXUdTFYy83An_MAnQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

New project unveiled today in Hamilton during a neighbourhood association meeting. It's in the Corktown neighbourhood, right next to St Joseph's hospital.

Holy crow! That complex is massive. Looks alright seeing as it's going to be quite unique in the area it's built in, glad to see this proposal
