Thanks for the update.
I'm thinking it'll stay a blank wall.

Trying not to listen to my inner Philadelphian with respect to that.

Possibly, but mechanical floors are just ahead.

Need a better backdrop for City Hall

That's unfortunate. It's a poor backdrop for City Hall when viewed from the northeast, say from 11th and Vine.

The neighboring Ritz is covered on all sides.

Can something be done about this?

yes, if we put our heads together we can probably cover it in glass ourselves one night with a few cases of beer & ten thousand pieces of snap-together scaffolding

Seriously though, it probably will look like ass if they leave it as-is, I'm thinking there has to be some kinda plan to address it but we'll see

Yea, call me optimistic but there's no way the back of the building just remains exposed concrete. If you notice, the small part that has glass on the back left is not totally even with the blank concrete part. But on the far left side of the concrete wall there is a column of windows (on some floors, two columns) that are not sheathed in glass yet. They're going to need to cover those windows obviously, and I imagine that will also be when we see the facade going over the windowless concrete part as well.

Now, it's the back of the building and only visible from certain angles, so I doubt they're sinking a ton of money into the facade back there and it probably won't look great. I'm confident it'll look considerably better than how it looks today though.

Speculation • Speculation
Seriously, just wait & see.

I highly doubt that the developer of a major skyscraper, taller than the iconic statue of William Penn of City Hall Castle will disappoint the city in a shameful manner of utter disrespect.

In other words; I find your lack of faith disturbing!

I wonder. I doubt they'll leave it blank but Cope Linder should know; those are the architects.

North Facing Wall Issue

Walked by the project and looked at the wall. I'm not an architect, but there are no panel brackets so I assume that the wall will only be painted. I also viewed the project from 10th / 11th and Vine (sorry, couldn't upload pictures). Due to the sightline, the blank wall lines up behind City Hall Tower. Not a pretty sight.
Hoping this is addressed and, as you say, it would be informative to hear from Mr. Lenfest.

The building can be "complete" and the hotel can open with this exposed concrete wall, right? If so, then I doubt they will divert resources from work that is required to get the hotel opened in order to do some cosmetic exterior work. I'm not saying it's not important, just that the builders are rightfully focused on all work needed to open the hotel on time. Of course, I say this based on the discussion - I haven't actually seen the wall. Can anyone post a picture?

Take a look at the third post down from the top of this page. It's an extreme close up.
