MetLife unveils design of its new 'Midtown Union' project

Quote:
The project, which includes a 25-story office tower and 250-key hotel, was presented to the Midtown Development Review Committee. Its suggestions for how the giant project should be scaled into the northern edge of Midtown, one of the city’s most walkable neighborhoods, will be passed on to the city of Atlanta for final approval.

“Midtown Union,” as the project is officially known, will also include up to 350 apartments and 87,000 square feet of retail.

Wow.....if the MetLife's proposal's finished product looks exactly like this rendering then this will be truly an iconic building for Midtown Atlanta.

I like it!
It has a European flare.
We could use more of this "out of the box thinking"!
Along with JPX help, midtown will start taking on a little more eclectic look.

I think this is becoming a "thing" - with these faux curtain walls. The other recent 30+ story proposal around 8th street had an extended curtain wall at the top as well.

I see two towers in that image. Are those both just for the office space?

That's just the office component. It spans the entirety of 17th street. The hotel and apartment tower conceptual designs are still being worked out based on the ABC article. They're looking at a dual brand for the hotel based on a recent article.

I know everyone is focused on Metlife proposal, and I will caveat this with a "still very skeptical," but for the first time in a while, Opus2 job site looks like an actual job site with dump trucks lined up to remove dirt/granite. This started Monday and is continuing through today....

How many stories total?
It looks massive, but if you look closely, the divide in the middle is an optical illusion - not 2 separate building as Skyscraperpage17 suggested. cheers:

Skyscraperpage17 has one lazy eye and has a cataract in the other one. Bless his heart...he tries.

It looks like one side is a true 25 floor and the other is an artificial 30.
