It is the Legislature Annex building (c 1951). It was built as the HQ of Alberta Govt Telephones (which became Telus).

At the time there were few offices in the area, The Fed building was just starting I believe. The Haultain Bldg was to come. the few other GoA buildings were up but there were more houses in the area at the time. I believe the GoA wanted to build close by. there was no park on that side at that time.

Owned land, near Leg.

There were/are plans to remove it and create a new memorial. I believe it was the first curtain wall tower in Edmonton/Western Canada?

investigating possible redevelopment of the building.

I hope they remove the building and make the land part of the Legeslature grounds.
As a kid I always thought the tunnel that runs under the grounds was so cool. Haven't driven through there in many years though.

God I feel old now, I remember when they built it.

A good chunk of the grounds are underground parking and tunnels. AI just finished a major upgrade of the parkade that surrounds the Annex building.
