The current facility is entirely for utilities, and doesn't house any actual offices as far as I know. The original building was out of style by the time Brunswick Square came along, and there's no way a newly-renovated telephone switching tower in 1970 is gonna include a seemingly out of place older building. I wouldn't be surprised if the developer had wanted to tear down Loyalist House too.

I'm trying to remember which floor I was on when I worked in there for 6 months in Operator Services. It might have been that one, but I honestly can't picture what the windows looked like anymore. :/

Re. parking garages: I've always like the subtlety of underground parking, so Market Square has always been my favourite. I also like how much infrastructure for the complex overhead can be seen inside it; it's fun to explore in there and note all the plumbing and machinery and such.

Market Sq is my favourite also. Reminds me of a toy car road and parking play set I had as a kid. Irving Oil maybe my second favourite. Peel plaza garage interesting from a distance.

Market Square by far is the best, the 2 on chipman hill are the worst. Overall the ones done in brick look better.

I like how closely the new JDI Garage matches their building.

The only good parking garage is an underground one (or one that's out of sight mid-block), so Market Square and Prince Edward Square are my top 2.

Almost any parking garage beats a surface lot, though.

Law Courts Design Elements

The Saint John Law Courts are brilliantly designed drawing design elements from the uptown neighbourhood

The stone front plays homage to the old court house and jail on King’s Square

Roof’s edge mimics what’s found on many historical buildings

Design incorporates the modern uptown Saint John

The copper mimics the historic brick buildings

The back of the courthouse reflects the iconic multi-layered housing clusters uptown

I take this to mean old Saint John embracing the future

This could be recognition of Saint John’s industrial heritage

Some design elements blend in with the surrounding skyline

Have y'all never heard of resizing images to a reasonable size instead of making entire pages of this thread unreadable with obnoxiously large font and massive images that look like they were taken on a toaster-oven?

Never knew it was an issue until you brought it up - otherwise I’d learn how to do that. I exclusively use Ipad so didn’t realize. How do you resize ? I upload from Dropbox

Nice to see progress on the corner of Charlotte and Union as the walls and foundation are going up on the in-fill portion of this development.

That project is going to make a huge difference for the corner, and I'm hoping that it catalyzes some interest in the vacant lot across the street that's just begging for a mixed-use infill development.

Looks like the rezoning application for 384 Lancaster has been approved as of last night's council meeting.

The most vocal and outspoken objection letters have come from one Bill Dashwood who lives next door, and as an employee of T4G I can't take anything he says seriously since he repeatedly refers to T4G as a "call centre". If he can't be bothered to understand what sort of business presently occupies the site, how can we take his complaints seriously against equally false impressions of the business vying to take it over?

Any box building that doesn't sell retail goods or make manufactured goods must be a call centre, right? Isn't that how it works?

Glad to see it's been approved. Turning it down would have been shocking. I read through some of the objection letters submitted to PAC for the development and they were definitely something.

Saw in the TJ today that 22 King is back on the market. At the time 91 King sold, the same new owners were reported to have purchased this property as well. Anyone know what happened?

Stephanie Turner has debunked this story on Twitter, stating that the building is not for sale - they are merely seeking tenants to lease the ground floor and mezzanine. False alarm.
