I just don't see how trains on Albert and Slater, passing every 2 minutes, would have been worse than the line-ups of a hundred bus routes we have now. The 2006 plan, adding trains to the existing central Trnsitway mess would have been a disaster. Trains alone for the first 20 years would not ahve been an issue.
If LRT was built in the first place, the debate in the 2000s would have been whether or not we need to build a $600 million tunnel downtown and not where to go with LRT, let's shut down the entire backbone of the system to convert it to LRT and use every single cent we have on upgrading the corridor we already have so that we can neglect the central area for another 50+ years.
