I'm still not finding any current permits for that 410 Uptown project.

Last I heard, the 410 Uptown project is still in a budgetary phase.

Quick update on that Ping Pong bar at 5th and Lavaca. Walked passed it Thursday night and noticed they are working on the interior. I must say, it's nothing at all what I thought it would be. Very country western to the point where it's nauseating. (sorry I'm not into the whole country western theme.) When I think of Ping Pong, country western doesn't even come into the decor equation. I think more of a game room type atmosphere or China in the 70s or Hot springs in Japan lol. We already have Buffalo Billiards with a country western theme. Just bummed about it because I was hoping the decor would have been more urban.

I get how you feel. Makes you think they are catering to visitors from out of state to give them a taste of Western Vibe, something you won't find in California or NY. But you would think a bulk of their business would come from locals who don't necessarily need the 'Broken Spoke' type of atmosphere.

I’m 99% sure their target markets will be conventioneers/tourists, downtown businesses (for group parties) and whoever the folks are that go to W 6th. There’s not a lot of authentic Austin happening there.

Transwestern to Build Micro Apartments in Downtown Austin

Quote:
AUSTIN – (Realty News Report) – Transwestern Development Co. has acquired 1.6 acres in downtown Austin where it will develop a micro-apartment complex called Block 36.
The average apartment size will be 446 SF.

The 263-unit project will be built between east Third and East Fourth Street on Waller Creek in downtown Austin.
Block 36 will consist primarily of studio units with 14 percent of the community slated for two-bedroom units.

The unit designs maximize efficiency with Murphy and platform beds, hideaway kitchen modules, convertible coffee/dining/bar tables and modular furniture.
Transwestern Development’s Ty Puckett and Josh Delk are leading the development, which is scheduled to break ground in January 2019 with delivery in the first half of 2020.

The project’s architect is Wilder Belshaw with financing provided by Comerica Bank.

Nice catch. Now we know what's going to replace that vacated Crossfit Central building.

This is interesting. ACC filed for a CVC dertermination today for their Rio Grande campus. Most of the site is not in a CVC.

Hmm. I noticed Saturday they had the campus fenced off completely. Damn. Now I wish I'd taken a photo of it. They did have a "rendering" up showing the existing building. I had just assumed they were doing some renovations. I know they're also planning on doing some work on Pinnacle Campus - supposedly even closing it for repairs.

It looks like they're just doing some renovations. I'm not sure why they'd need to do a CVC determination. Maybe it's just standard legal practice whenever they're within the corridor.

Studio 8 has some renderings. It looks like the changes are mostly updating the interior.

That campus is such a beautiful example of early 20th Century high school architecture, other than restoring the the outside, I wouldn't want them to change anything about it. Its the only formerly highschool campus of that type that we have.

ACC wanted to go to 120' due to the incredible demand for classes at this location but backed off of that aspiration due to push back from neighbors. That's too bad IMO. I loved taking classes here and can attest to the fact that classes filled up fast pushing those who weren't able to enroll in time to campuses further out.

The COTA PUD. COTA has filed a development assessment for a Planned Unit Development. There's not enough info to know what this might be.

Annie's space on Congress to become Ways and Means, a Southern CA based oyster bar and restaurant. Hopes to open some time in Winter 2018.

Another space on Congress goes to a non-Austin-non-Texas Chain...
And the local just keep dripping away.

I know restaurant groups like Ways and Means have solid business reasons to pull stunts like this, but it's just weird. Doesn't fit with Congress -- even really what Congress seems to be becoming, now that Newks and Modern Market and Soul Cycle and Punchbowl Social -- among other notables -- have/are moving in.

It's just weird, that's all I'm saying.
