if you factor in the translink tax its about the same as elsewhere in BC.

It was 148.9 in Most stations in Ft St John yesterday, 141.9 at an Esso in High Level Alberta and in the Peace River area it was 131.9

Anyway yesterday the Esso at Bainbridge that was 150.9 had a small lineup of people waiting to fill up.

The key word is frequently. We go south to Bellingham once a month to pick up US packages and buy other things like gas and groceries and never get charged for anything. The more you go, the more they will pay attention to you.

At the Fred Meyer it is $1.10/L Can. Paid $0.99 about a month ago.

Prices there are stable and only move with the price of oil. BC is nuts!!

I still find for me the cost to go from the West Side of Vancouver to the States for gas isn't worth the time, as I don't shop for anything else there. I have a PetroPoints card linked to my RBC Avion, so I save 13 cents a litre and I can live with that. My car takes Premium anyway, so its not like I bought it for it's thrift! I do miss my Jetta diesel, and sometimes I think a "new" Touareg TDI that has sat waiting for the diesel settlement might be interesting if the price was right. More likely my next vehicle will be electric.

we need a made in Canada price since our wholesale prices are set based on American Consumption. Edmonton is 1.30 and we actually refine the oil here. so its not like it cost much to transport. I am budgeting for 2.00 a liter for a trip later this year. When I travel to BC I fill up somewhere in the Abottsford or Langley and try to get by on a tank. Never fill in Greater Vancouver. I find the prices in the Island cheaper as well.

I am finding the price increases on Weds now. Kinda like when I lived in TO. The prices there would spike on Thursday and then Drop Sunday night. I am driving my more fuel efficient car and leaving the SUV in the drive way. For trips to Van, I will be flying in and using the train as much as possible.

Isn't it 3¢ / L for a linked Petro Points card?

EDIT: Just figured it out. You're using points to get Fuel savings cards.

20,000 points gets you 10¢ off / L up to 200 L.

Essentially, it gives you $20 back. But to get that, you need to buy 2,000 L of fuel at Petro-Canada at current gas prices less 3¢.

Assuming a price of 1.58/L you're paying $3,190 for 2,200 L of fuel... instead of $3,476. $286 of savings... or 8.2% back. Not a bad trade-off for loyalty to one brand's gas stations.
If you combined that with buying Petro-Canada gift cards at a Save-On with an Amex Cobalt ( gives you 5x ) you can probably essentially knock off another 7¢ / L or so.

Great good for you. Lot of people like myself live south of Fraser and still find it worth it to go down. Although lately its been going up in Washington too.

Great way to restrict supplies even more. First, who is going to sell their crude to a refiner at a discount in order to make this happen. Second, why would an integrated energy company (eg Esso, Suncor) produce or refine at a loss? They would just shut production.

Artificial price controls are not the answer.

Yeah, if you're going down anyway it makes sense. It's about $1.20 in Blaine, and $1.10 in Bellingham after conversion including forex fees.

But you're talking about a minimum 100km round trip to Bellingham... about 12L for your average SUV... or about $14... to save $8.

We are going anyway because we shop a lot on online and pick up at a friend's house. The gas and groceries etc are bonus savings. It is even better when the loonie is higher. The Walmart parking lot is full of BC plates.

I don’t get the huge price fluctuations here. I remember a few days ago that the gas station near my house was $1.59, then it dropped to $1.40 in the afternoon. When I was in the Dominican Republic last spring the gas stations had the same price everywhere across the country (I remember that the price for regular was 193 pesos per gallon, which is about C$1.31/L). It only fluctuates when there’s a shortage of fuel imported from the States. Keep in mind that the stations are in a country that has more people than the Province of Quebec in an area barely the size of Nova Scotia.

Man... I'm waiting on the less expensive Model 3 to come out... They contacted me saying I could order... one of the more expensive ones.

Have a 3 on order, coming soon since I ordered long range and premium. I like the X, but it's just too big for our needs, same with the S. I considered one of them pre-owned, but the demand and price is still pretty high.

I'll save on gas but everything else will be more. Can't wait though. I'm a little bit worried about what ICBC will charge.
