Wow! Yet another big office proposal in Midtown to go along with 1105 West Peachtree and 1125 Peachtree (assuming the rumors are true). I like it.

Okay so on the block south of Alta or whatever its called now. Some height in that part of Midtown would be great for the skyline. West Peachtree continues to explode with development. Amazing!

True. This tower will make a big impact on the skyline in this part of Midtown.

West Peachtree will be more built up than Peachtree soon.

Anyone have a pic from as recent as 10 years ago of midtown? The difference within a decade is just amazing. The gap in the skyline between upper Midtown (One Atlantic Center) and BOA is barely noticeable now as compared to then when The Spire was like the only thing there.

The 1st pic is stunning to say the least, and it doesn't include some under construction projects like Coda, Anthem, and the the nearby GA Tech student housing project at Spring & 3rd - nor the fenced-off, soon to be under construction The Mark.

Wow, South Midtown is on fire.

This Cousins proposal has me dreaming about what would be the *best* building (height, use, materials) for the Cheetah lot. It could beckon another office building or condos of similar architecture a height between the two, maybe even taller than this proposal. Personally i'd like the height to be able to pier over NCR and get some forever views of GT. The parcel is probably just a little smaller than 1125 peachtree, so you could get some oompf out of it.

Indeed! A complementary but more narrow 700 foot tower would look so good on that site. perhaps the 'angle' of the roof tipping south.
...is the rendering of 1125 that was floating around for awhile available to view anywhere?

City of Atlanta drops lawsuit against Integral Group, Egbert Perry and Renee Glover

Isn't this the lawsuit that was holding up the Generation Atlanta project?

They said there were two lawsuits and the City of Atlanta only dropped one of them so I think they still have to deal with the other.

I just read the article. Why have they not reported this fact until now? It would make sense then that Integral wouldn't pay full market value for the property if they only get to keep 50% of the profits from any development.

Quote:
The housing authority would keep 50 percent of the profits from the developments — without any of the risk, Perry has said.

FWIW I'm on Egbert Perry's side. He's all about being a developer-for-profit and providing economically mixed housing while not setting up his developments for failure - i.e. a downward spiral into gettoes, which has happened all too often. It's not easy but he's trying to accomplish that. For some reason the regime was not able to get behind the required tradeoffs.

I'd love to see this design revived and used for a big midtown project since 1138 never used it

I always liked that. Isn't it the Mandarin Hotel design for 1138? We need something there too!

It WAS for 1138. It COULD be for something else in Midtown. Good looking tower, should get built, regardless of the failed project it was intended for.

This means it will most likely be on the Midtown DRC Agenda next week.
For anyone that may not be fully up to speed...
Rumored to be office, condo, hotel (Ritz-Carlton ) mixed-use with one of the big law firms as the anchor tenant and 900 feet tall.

Vote clears way for stalled Centennial Park apartment build

Vote clears way for stalled Centennial Park apartment build

Quote:
It took less than 10 minutes, but a Friday afternoon vote in the offices of Atlanta’s housing authority seems to have cleared the way for a long-stalled apartment building to rise near the northeast corner of Centennial Olympic Park.

Kaplan has long been ready to get shovels in the ground, and took those owners to court in February, alleging that the housing authority was hindering the sale of the land.
