I really enjoy the mark’s design (not sure if I’ll feel the same once I see construction materials), but man student housing overloading this part of midtown... really hoping we see a handful of new condos and entertainment come to he neighborhood soon to keep (my preferred) balance. That’s simply from my experience living in a city with a neighborhood that was overrun with students.

Really excited to see what comes out of 1125 Peachtree. Weren’t they working on a retaining wall earlier? Was that ever implemented? Hopefully this is for development of the block! Considering the size of the block, I expect a tiered tower or multiple towers.

I'm curious, what student neighborhood are you referring to?

Portman/ Anthem tower should get it's crane soon. They had the anchor stools and base section in when I walked by.

The one this development is in. Midtown (Tech Square-ish).

This would make 3 student towers in the immediate vicinity. It's not overrun with students quite yet though IMO and there are also non-student apartments going up.

Overrun with students? Even if it was, so what? They have added so much activity on the street and made the whole area much more welcoming because of their presence. What’s the issue? I say the same with downtown and Georgia State students. They have brought life back to sections of the city that felt completely abandoned at night just 10 years ago.

Praise the Lord. This parcel has been the worst offender in Midtown for years.

Are there any renderings of the tower in the skyline?
I too would like to see this.

I think there's a bit of confusion here, as Street Advocate never came back and answered the question. I think he wasn't talking about Midtown being overrun with students.

The Mark looks like a fantastic project, and I for one am not too concerned about the area getting overrun by students. There's been huge growth in office and a few new non-student high rises in the area. PLus this is a secondary street in Midtown anyways; the real action is over on Peachtree. So I feel glad to have the extra foot traffic on what would without Tech probably look just like Spring Street 5 blocks to the north.

There’s some movement happening at interlock. Lots of signs have recently been put up, also a big white tent is now on the parking lot. Could be movie production stuff though.

No this is for a pre-development event. This one is definitely happening - GA Tech I believe has taken a third of the office space. They also built a marketing trailer onsite with a VR of the development. I am going to try and sneak in...

Construction on the site is well underway and they have cleared tons of old growth trees as well as moved a lot of dirt. Any insight is appreciated.
Someone better have an answer!!

Whew! Thanks for pointing this out.

I have lived in a few neighborhoods (none in the southeast) completely overrun by students. While I enjoy their street presence, ambition, and youthfulness, I find like all great neighborhoods, there should be a balance of residents. I don't have an issue with a handful of student housing projects, however, when a submarket is shifting towards transient residents, it's worth keep an eye out. There's limited room in Midtown and as nice as the increased street presence is, I'd rather have a larger portion remain for offices and residences rather than students (who tend to be really good at what they do, get an internship elsewhere over the summer, and leave Atlanta when they graduate).

To note, I lived on campus for my years at GT, completely understand why students would live at these new opportunities, wish the best for the students, and appreciate all the vitality GT has brought across the network (and hoping for more development along Northside back towards West Midtown). I just think in a few years (if not already), even with the influx of development, people are going to think "I wish there were more offices and condos/apartments available between North Ave & Midtown Station".

Nope, it is at the Blvd Pl NE and Glen Iris intersection. It used to be an empty field with some large trees and now it is well under way with some development. I thought I heard it would be a townhome community but have not seen any confirmation of that. Could be a good spot for some small mixed use as well.

The most recent Accela post for the corner site are a tree issue and a proposal for 16 townhomes on three parcels, both from last fall.
