They could be if location and exhibits are good. The Australian National Maritime Museum in Sydney is right on Darling Harbour and has more than 1.5 million visitors a year. Of course it also has three museum ships open to the public which might be more interesting than the St Roch, but point is that location is important.

The maritime museum is totally drowned out and ignored. I'm sure most people have no idea where it is. It and the Vancouver museum both deserve more prominent and tourist friendly locations in the city, which is somewhere in the downtown core right now.
You said it yourself: the museums are neglected. And yeah, vanier park is packed like a couple of days in the year and virtually dead the rest of the year.

No money? Wow how come? I wonder where they spend it all!?

Yeah I know all that. You missed my point. You said there's no lighting because it cost too much. And I was just saying it's no more than a bike lane.

Park board is spending 4 million on sea wall on Stanley park. It would be nice that a part of that would include lighting especially around English bay to second beach

it would cost more then 4 million to install lighting, that's for sure. also, they need to spend that money as the thing will fall over.

i always thought it should have lighting, but unless people push for it hard, it wont happen as there is no money for it. it generally costs ~ 15,000 per street light, and that is with all of the wires underground already. they would need to do a lot of digging and installing of wires to that area which would increase the costs as i doubt there is anything already there.

of course it would be nice, but, it is quite expensive and since this is Vancouver, they know spending all that money would backfire against them from the public, news, and tax payers federation of course.

it is easy to justify fixing the seawall, it is one of the best in the world and it is falling apart, so needs to be done so people can still use it. lighting does not effect 80%-90% of people. as much as i would like lighting, i have never been impacted by it not being there.

Three ships and a dozen boats. It helps that the Australians are intent on preserving history, rather than just cashing it in once it's no longer needed.

Does this forum have a page that shows the current status of projects under construction? As in a list of projects and their approximate expected completion dates? Thanks (and apologies if this has been asked/answered before).

It's also located in a major tourist hub, which that area of Coal Harbour definitely isn't.

It doesn't have a comprehensive list of projects, with or without expected completion dates. Some projects get their own thread, if somebody starts one; others feature in either the Downtown, General, Infill or Olympic Village threads. That's just in the City of Vancouver - there are over twice as many projects in other Municipalities, and those similarly either get their own thread, or end up in a more generic thread.

The pace of development can be surprisingly difficult to estimate. Some projects race to completion, other take for ever just to dig the hole for the parkade. It's unlikely anybody on here would have the knowledge or time to keep that sort of information updated for a Region that has 41,000 homes under construction; over 32,000 of them in apartment and rental buildings.

Thanks - you're right, that would be difficult to compile (reason I asked was came across this: https://urbansurrey.com/surrey-city-centre-active-projects/).

You're right, that's a neat resource. The Changing City blog captures most of the Central Area projects, but we don't map them, and the only way you can tell their status is from the image - if it's completed there will be a photograph, and if it's a proposal or under construction there will be a render or model. We tried keeping up with a status box, but it was too difficult to keep up to date accurately, so we dropped it. If things slow down, as has been rumoured, maybe we'll try again.

Maybe they're looking for the bull?

Sorry, but are you talking about the former Budget Car Rental site that was recently cleared for the 400 West Georgia project?
