3 actually because 333 N. Green was issued a permit late last week. Also, one of the Union West towers which I believe is 15 stories was issued a permit late last week too. That's 4 new 15-19 story buildings issued construction permits in less than a week in WL alone.

Great to see.

Wow, that's surprisingly low considering the relative density of the neighborhoods the Pink line traverses, plus the IMD which is a huge employer.

I would imagine that as east Pilsen begins to further gentrify and more people who work downtown begin to move to the area, that number should begin to grow?

Yeah, I was shocked when I looked at the numbers. Only Polk has somewhat significant ridership at 2800 average weekday.

Okay, so, now that we have the Tribune addition site info released...

can we please please PLEASE have someone work on a page 1 update?

Honestly, it doesn't even have One Chicago Square and Site I. And hasn't there been a refined rendering of WPS? And there's gotta be a bunch more I'm not mentioning. Pg 1 is in desperate need of love.

Anyone have any news on 201 N. Clark (Garvey Court)?

I walk by that hulk every day. The Subway shop finally closed in that building.

Last I heard, the creditors were going to get it auctioned off.

I’m not sure if anyone reported this already, but Crain’s says the two, 15 story, 358 unit apartment towers development at Washington & Sangamon has landed a $92 million dollar loan.

But I guess that's why we have Divvy and transfers. This is also why the Pink Line is going to blow up. Pilsen is only one or two stops from the West Loop. California in Little Village is three stops in Pilsen and one stop in the IMD away. Meanwhile Clark and Lake is 3 stops from Divsion in Wicker, and California is 6 stops out, Logan 7. The SW side is a lot closer to downtown than people realize. Also the Pink Line isn't standing room only for 2 peak hours in the morning and evening.
Depends on where you're going in the West Loop. Just take the Blue Line through the loop to UIC Halsted or Racine stop. Actually is quite accessible to southern half of West Loop. UIC Halsted stop is just a couple blocks from Greektown and 0.4 miles (~8 min walk) to Mary Bartelme Park. More of a jaunt to Randolph but within 15 min walk. But would need to transfer at Grand if you're going heart of Fulton Market where office demand is blowing up. In which case Pink Line is far superior as you highlight.

^ I’ll start with my read of this unsurprisingly shady turn of events:

Reilly, being the typical ass whistle that he is, obviously is not doing this for NIMBYs. This hack job clearly has hotel owners, perhaps those who don’t want competition, backing this move.

And why not stiff arm the Japanese guys?

Seems to me they would have a decent chance of winning a lawsuit -- especially if it were a jury trial.

Say what you want about the potential crappy design, but them trying to block this over so many years is sounding quite ridiculous. Definitely some weird corruption going on

166 N. Aberdeen (APPROVED) at it's original height of 220' to the roof... this doesn't include mechanical overrun.

No reduction in units, but 14 less parking (70) spots, from 84.

Crain's speculates that the Reilly move is merely to keep the Toyoko Inn's entitlement from vesting. Toyoko's PD was about to sunset.

The timing of the Reilly's downzoning proposal and the building permit may be more than just a coincidence. The planned development for the hotel, which the City Council approved on April 24, 2012, was set to expire after six years. So the Toyoko venture would have to begin construction by April 24 of this year or lose the right to build the project.

But by receiving a foundation permit on April 11, the venture can argue that it met the deadline, allowing it to proceed with the development. It's unclear if Toyoko even has lined up financing for the project; the venture has not filed a construction mortgage with the Cook County Recorder.

By filing his proposal, Reilly may be attempting to trump Toyoko's permit, forcing it to begin negotiations with the city all over again. But the maneuver could possibly trigger a lawsuit from Toyoko alleging that the city has no right to change the rules after the developer has invested so much money and time in the pre-development phase of the project.
