It's going to take a great many years to absorb the "glut" of office space in Calgary. That pretty much eliminates the construction of a new tower let alone a new tallest for a long time. Meanwhile Edmonton's Stantec Tower is set to become the new tallest outside Toronto this year (823ft). The 900 plus footer Aldritt tower to be built in Edmonton is slated to commence construction in the Fall but they do have some hurdles to overcome such as an old mine at the site. The building is approved though and I believe it will be built.................... eventually.
I'm not overly thrilled about all of this but let's not forget we in Calgary have an awesome Skyline!!!!

Here's the thing.
If you think the people who previously posted left because of the content here, post some good content and maybe they will come back.
If you simply don't feel the content is as good now, post some good content to fix that.

There's not really much point in doing anything than trying to improve the content.

Of course my content in this message sucks because I'm home sick today and can't post the latest pics of the Inglewood YWCA, but I will this weekend!

Furthermore, are the comments about how quiet just another opportunity to plug SRC? Guys, it's okay if this thread is quiet. We don't need to hash this over and over. Get your butts out there and get in the know. Be the contributor that you seek.

I get what you’re saying but it’s easier said than done, especially when all the knowledgeable people and good contributors are now somewhere else. Part of the problem is most of those people like the other site, and don’t want to come back. It’s hard when the other site has everything covered, it’s much easier just to go there and get in the loop with everything.

I was driving down 12th Ave S.W. and noticed a lot of activity at a huge site at 4 Street. I saw two huge machines (no idea what they're called but I think they're used to pile into the ground) working and a fair number of workers. What is supposed to be going up at that site? I didn't see any signs but it looks big enough for at least two buildings.

Pretty sure that is the 500 Block, phase 1 is 1 tower and phase 2 might be a larger one.

I dislike the format of the other site but made an account just to see what the fuss was all about. I wouldn't say I'm active over there though. I check in on occasion but it lacks the daily activity of this site with everything being micro categorized by project and most reponses being of the "nice photo" variety. Some features like the alerts for responses to your posts are nice at first but tedious after the nth response to the same post. I've also unsubscribed for e-mail notifications but still seem to get them. That being said, unfortunately some of my favourite old posters have moved there due to the toxicity of this thread in recent years. Maybe they'll come back someday. Who knows. Others have just moved on altogether and don't post on either site. Sadly I fear the good old days of this site are long behind us. I only stay on here for the Canada section.

Every time I check in to see what's going on in this thread it consists of a) the exact same low quality photo taken by Daemon on what I can only assume to be a potato b) replies to said photo ranging from complaints to encouragement with no actual meaningful content besides quoting it and responding c) some asinine post by the usual suspects or d) someone complaining about lack of content in this thread with an inevitable plug for SRC.

The channel this video is from is very cool. It's construction-related and has some amazing videos.
Cool! Hey remember what the Bow's atriums were supposed to look like? Too bad that got sacrificed and now Encana doesn't even need all that leaseable office space.

The most exciting new project in the city. Too bad it couldn't be in the Beltline or DT though. This looks like something straight out of Europe.
