Yep, exactly that. The end cars would end up being less busy, but with pass-throughs, it's less of an issue.
For SkyTrain, you'd ideally renovate really busy stations for longer 100m platforms... but it's not 100% necessary.
When we build the broadway line extension building 100m platforms wouldn't be wasted. Outside of the core, you use an A/B stopping pattern and past VCC/Clark, all cars would open all doors. ( I'd strongly consider extending the Commercial Drive platform, though ).
This pattern could be even MORE easily used on the Canada Line, given its wider cars.
