The plant already closed about 10 million pigs ago.

Woah....I like the addition of office space in the new revision to that proposal on that plant. I don't trust this'll look the greatest judging by the renders, even though the Post-modernist tower looks.....um.....alright. It's still not refined enough.

Scrivner Court looks too tall IMO. It shouldn't overtake the clocktower from the former North Toronto Railway station.

I'm liking both those project proposals in Toronto. Of course, it all depends on the execution but if they turn our like the renders, then they'll be a positive for the city.

Small infill development in Winnipeg

Richardson to build $30 million R&D Centre downtown
Richardson International Ltd. is building a $30-million innovation centre down the street from the family-owned business’s head office at Portage and Main.

In development for some time, the four-storey, 62,000-sq.-ft. centre will house the company’s growing food-development operations.

The product innovation centre became necessary as the company has diversified from purely grain handling to canola

and oat processing. Construction at Westbrook Street and Lombard Avenue will begin in April for completion in the spring of 2020.

RICHARDSON INNOVATION CENTRE
With its dramatic angular form of transparent glass and contrasting tyndall stone, the new Richardson Innovation Centre will project Richardson International’s commitment to community building and innovation in the heart of downtown Winnipeg. Designed for advanced food product development, the four-storey laboratory building will actively interact with its unique downtown location, serving as a catalyst for future pedestrian-oriented redevelopment between historic Portage and Main and the East Exchange District.

The 62,000 sq. ft. facility will create interest along Lombard Avenue with an assortment of pedestrian friendly landscaping features and unique views from the street into the spaces inside. The building’s orientation and strategic use of glass floods the interior spaces with natural light and provides dramatic views of downtown.

Inside, a large glass atrium contains a feature staircase to establish direct connections to each floor and the different functional areas of the building. The staircase provides a striking architectural statement set against a full-height wood feature wall designed as an artistic representation of a DNA barcode, offering visual warmth and conceptually expressing the building’s various scientific uses.

Red River College unveil plan for $95M Innovation Centre at Exchange District campus
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/red-river-college-princess-campus-expansion-elgin-1.4086516

Red River College’s new Innovation Centre. (Renderings by Diamond Schmitt Architects)

Currently on hold as funding is renegotiated

Quote:
The new Innovation Centre that Red River College is building in Winnipeg’s Exchange District has been making headlines recently but for all the wrong reasons.

The Winnipeg Free Press has covered extensively the uncertainty this crucial project is facing due to unrealistic construction deadlines set by the federal government. Despite raising alarm bells with Ottawa in recent weeks and months, RRC is still waiting for a resolution.

This is unfortunate because the better story is what the new Centre will bring to our city and our province – what it will mean to the students it will serve; to the surrounding cluster of start-ups and leading edge industries in Innovation Alley; and to the unique, urban ‘gem’ the revitalized Exchange District is quickly becoming.

The $95 million, 100,000-square-foot Innovation Centre, announced last April, is merely Red River’s latest contribution to the ongoing revitalization of our historic Exchange District.
It started 15 years ago when RRC took a risk and opened its first building on Princess Street, bringing 2,000 students, faculty and staff downtown and creating a catalyst for the renaissance that has been taking place in this iconic neighborhood ever since.

Canada’s Diversity Gardens at Assiniboine Park
Winnipeg, Manitoba
Architects
Architecture 49 with KPMB Architects
Completion
2019 - Under construction

Video Link

The new botanical conservatory will be situated at the head of an existing Formal Garden at Assiniboine Park. It will celebrate cultural and botanical diversity. Designed for LEED Gold Certification it will play a critical role in shaping how a community perceives, interacts with and understands nature and sustainability. Through compelling architecture and innovative programming it will meet a modern purpose: existing to capture the imaginations of new generations and promote a greater understanding and love of the botanical world while addressing critical conservation issues. It will be a signature piece of architecture that generates awareness and a presence in the park, an interactive destination that focuses on the interrelationships of plants and people, and a sustainable precedent focusing on horticulture, plants and the environment. The new exterior gardens and landscaping will complement the interior design elements, connect the building to the outdoors, and provide opportunities for social and community interaction.

Nice Winnipeg projects! I like them for their interesting designs...though the university buildings roof looks wild.

A new tallest proposed for Kitchener - Duke Tower (33 storeys) at the corner of Duke and Frederick Sts, Downtown. One hopes something will be done to better disguise the parking garage in the podium - that Frederick St facade faces the new consolidated courthouse.

That Kitchener tower is not pretty....but it's good to see intensification nevertheless.

Neat proposal for Vancouver....except that the arena will be further blocked off, albeit not to a great extent had this proposal been taller.
