Honestly this is the project I'm most excited about. It may not be the prettiest, but it is in an area of downtown that hasn't seen a tower so far, and is in much need of some revitalization.

It certainly is night and day the difference between Bernard and Lawrence/Leon. It's as if Robson and the downtown eastside were a block or two away from each other.

Why would they blame a delay of a hotel on the speculation tax ? That doesn't make any sense.

Maybe Westcorp is in over their heads. They're not exactly a big player in the development world.

Yeah, seems like a tactic to me.

I am sure there are plenty of buyers within the Okanagan and the entire province of BC they can market towards. Also it is not as if this tax will eliminate all buyers from out of province. And a large portion of this project is a hotel as well, which doesn’t require buyers.

I still have a good feeling about this project, really think this is somewhat of a political maneuver.

Another major project around Prospera. Two large towers in the parking lot, 37(!) and 27 stories respectively. A truly impressive development proposal for Kelowna:

Oh my.

I think it's undeniable the direction Kelowna is heading. The confidence in the market there is pretty remarkable.

This is a very nice project that almost seems out of place for a city the size of Kelowna. I'm impressed!

How long before the Tonko site becomes attractive enough to redevelopment? Would be great for dt Kelowna to stretch from the bridge to Knox Mountain.

Yes, Ellis Parc should begin construction very soon.

Kelowna's skyline will look like a city/metro of mo5re than half a million in just a few short years at this rate which is remarkable for a metro of only 200k people.

I foresee a lot more people from the Lower Mainland moving there if they keep this up. Perhaps the population can grow another 100,000 in 15 years' time.

Awesome they are going tall: we need modern-looking smaller towns in this province.

The large one Water St 2-tower development near this proposal was 50% sold to lower-mainlanders, so I think the migration is already happening.
