Yes, it would be the best-looking building in St Johns. Can't have that. It is not compatible with the mundane character of the adjacent buildings.

Plus, that white marble plaza is much too fancy (:0)

Man, all of a sudden Mississippi has a pretty big entry way to the district. Pretty robust buildings for that area.

Notice of a Pre-Application Conference for 25 N Fargo. This is at least the third separate proposal for this site.

WPA office building going up at Mississippi and Cook. It's moving along promisingly but slowly.

Drawings [38 MB] for St John's Central Lofts. Type II appeal was denied last week [i.e. project approval was upheld].

If they'd close off Philadelphia between Lombard and Ivanhoe and convince US Bank to develop their lot, this could be a fantastic new gateway to St. John's. After the bridge, of course!

Looks like a cute little building for St John's, though your post made me wonder, is there any reason to have Philadelphia be an open road for cars? I don't live up in the St John's area, and because of that am never up there, so I personally can't say if it is a needed road or not.

I always feel like St John's should have stayed its own town because it feels so isolated from the rest of Portland.

UP should be required to add a MUP along the train ROW. The train tracks already act as a de facto local trail between Swan Is and the waterfront UP property. This will only get busier as UP develops the riverfront.

The Oregonian/OregonLive

Meyer Memorial Trust said this week it will build a new headquarters in North Portland and move from its leased office in the Pearl District in 2020.

Meyer, the charitable foundation established from the estate of Fred Meyer, the founder of the grocery chain of the same name, purchased the site at 2045 N. Vancouver Ave. in January for $5 million. It was previously operated by Sergeants Towing as an impound yard.

The plans were first reported by The Skanner News.

The trust has hired Project^ to develop the project and Fieldwork Design & Architecture to design the new building. A spokeswoman for the foundation said the design hasn't been finalized, but early plans call for a three-story, 20,000 square foot building. Construction is expected to begin later this year.
