That 401 Georgia site is big! Could've put a whole other office tower there

Yeah, I think Vancouver Centre II will be the first with that proximity (3 towers on one block)

New enhancement to the barriers around BC Place Stadium. I think it would take quite an effort to go over this now. I would say that it's at least chest high or chin high for most people.

There was a small set of temporary steps while PARQ was under construction. They probably knocked out a section of the concrete barrier and then redid it.

Thanks!

I didn't realize that the rear side of the hotel ballroom area was an outdoor balcony.

Someone will cry foul because the edges are not padded with rubber bumpers.

No really, this is stupid. We went over 30 years with not a single problem with how the edges of the plaza were and it takes someones prized pet and their complete inability to read to ruin it.
This is "WorkSafe mandates handrails on the roofs of skytrain stations because you will have maintenance workers on the roof perhaps once a year" level of stupid.

What’s up with you and dog literacy?

It's nice to see the north plaza getting back to normal. That crane base is pretty substantial, though. I presume it will be broken apart for removal?

Because apparently some people seem to think that they can read warning signs

I get complaining about bubble wrapping everything. And if people choose to ignore the warnings and they fall over it's their fault. Fine. I get that. But in this case it's dogs falling over.

I'd be more annoyed with idiot proofing things like bike lanes. That costs millions

Those flexible orange bollards, installed end-to-end on all of our bike lanes.

I just dislike the catering to (logically) stupid people. It costs money and usually achieves nothing.

^Lol that's true

So what exactly did they do at the library? What is that odd concrete structure they built in the plaza?

BC Place barriers - I like it, effective without being too intrusive. I always thought the original walls were oddly low, and I'm only 6ft tall.

Parq "outdoor" balcony - yes, it's neat, but in on the side of the building with the worst view and air quality.

Re: the enhanced barriers at BC Place. I seem to remember there was a guy (I think he was drunk) that fell over the barrier during the Olympics. He was seriously hurt but survived. Maybe there was a lawsuit.

Re: the concrete structure on the north plaza at the library. It was a crane base. They did major renovations to the roof. I look forward to going up there when it's all done.

Re: the open balcony at PARQ. I wonder if it's a designated smoking area. I think a lot of their clientele would be smokers and they WILL go to have a puff somewhere so you may as well let them go to one place rather than have them in the stairwells and clustered around the entrances and exits.
