I like the looks of them.
Very glad they are [edit] not the same colour palette as SOLO District.

It'll be interesting to see what the balconies end up looking like.
It would be nice if they were white fritted glass, but that seems unlikely.

Coldrsx has a point. Have you seen the floorplate size and plans for some of these units? Some 3 bedroom units have 2 windowless bedrooms. Residential towers aren't meant to be this fat.

Now Sovereign has a nice scale even though it's tall. It doesn't suddenly make the rest of the skyline look small in comparison.

I love it too.

Corner of Willingdon and Lougheed should have massive towers on it.

I also love the dark glass, with dark spandrel. A very different color theme for the region.

For those concerned about height - the remaining SoLo towers asked for height increases.

Plus - the price premium the Carter sites will command when they inevitably sell will be so massive, the only way to justify it will through density.

I look forward to the future of this intersection.

Scale is always such a weird, irrelevant concern, moreso in an area like this where it won't even be an issue in 5-10 years. The only real problem is that height after a certain point tends to be the enemy of affordability, but this was always going to be an expensive development.

Yes, we need this scale to house a population expansion. And the towers are awesome, and not ugly at all.

It's a blessing these towers don't look residential. They look like big tall office towers in Toronto, and that's what we need here.

I'm really glad they are built EXACTLY like this. They will also set a precedence for future towers in this area.

Look at this old Toronto photo: Would you protest them being constructed because those structures made the surrounding buildings look short?

Ugly? On the contrary, I think it looks pretty sharp, much like a building clad in tuxedo. The exterior is timeless. My only wish is people who lives there has class. I have seen practically new building aged in a matter of years because of mindless people. I have seen dirty hand prints , chewing gums on wall, gauge marks on perfectly new walls using coins, keys ( too impatient or bored waiting for elevators in some cases), even dog poops inside elevator ...... Sigh ,respect your building and keep it new!!!

Residential towers aren't meant to be this fat??!!

Says who? Didn't these sell out pretty fast?

Anyway I think these look fine and the scale is good. You wouldn't want a bunch of skinny towers on such a huge site. And to those who think they are out of scale, you need to be patient. As time goes by and the area is further built up they will blend in with the other buildings

I'll take "being out of scale" a good thing!

One Bloor East in Toronto probably has a similar sized floorplate.

Good strata or building manager is also very important. My building does not allow crap to be placed on the balconies, so the tower looks neat at all times. I've seen how people hoard stuff on balconies, and the structure eventually looks like a hi-rise slum. Regular power-washing, window-cleaning, etc. also ensure that the building looks spic and span.

Also The One at Bloor and Yonge, soon to be the tallest skyscraper in Canada at 85 stories.

Likewise. It will be nice to see how the white balcony treatments showcase the verticality, emphasize the darker glass and hide the spandrel currently visible. It should really tie the buildings design together.

8,000 sq ft is a pretty standard plate for point tower residential in Toronto, and many other cities across the world.

Compare to office tower floorplates
- TD Tower, Vancouver is 16,000 sq ft per floor, so Brentwood 1 is still half the size.

About seven weeks later.

I think most of tower #2 will not be visible from this vantage point at Rupert Station. It's hiding perfectly behind the Solo District towers.

Have we hit top floor in Tower 1 already?

I noticed that the height of the building has not changed for weeks.
The top level concrete also appeared to be twice as thick as regular floors.
At night time, the lights are going towards the top instead of keeping 10-11 floors from the top.

In comparison, Tower 2 is going up real fast!

The top floors will have a different design, so the thick slab is probably a transfer floor
and they'll have to have different forms for those floors - so probably a long time to set them up for the concrete pours.

Transfer slab has been poured, penthouses and mech left.

Regular floor plates are done.

Looking forward to see the penthouse take shape, should be quite unique.
