I find that a lot of the folks who cannot afford the more classic 4WD cars go crazy for Trackers. They're fun little cars you can pull behind your RV as well.
A 4WD tracker with not too much rust can start at $3500 without modifications. A 2WD can go for as low as $1000 because they are so hilariously crippled.
