Yeah those renderings/mockups or whatever you wanna call them are embarrassing. At least put out something that looks professional so people can take the proposal seriously.

Century Park has some promise, but I bet that once that site is built out, it will resemble little of what is seen on the site.

Yeah, they will probably do away with the modern buildings and copy and paste the Louvre across the entire site.

The tower they are currently working on look good and given there good record here I suspect what ends up here will be nice.

I don't know about that. Some of the projects including the original CP buildings and the Mayfairs have pretty poor reputations

Design wise, the Mayfairs are pretty meh too. One is just bad. The other has a decent looking window wall but with a cheesy LED install and a ridiculous podium.

One of my colleagues lives closeby and likens the LED strip to something you'd see in a red light district somewhere. All that's missing is the Girls! Girls! Girls! flashing neon sign

We looked at acquiring the first Mayfair a while back and took a hard pass based on the quality of the project. I've heard similar issues with # 2

^ The light itself is not that bad, but red is a poor choice IMO, it definitely has that seedy red light district neon light vibe to it. Blue or white would have probably worked better.

I love the building itself, it's such a good fit for a somewhat awkward site.

C'mon guys. Buildings are built over tunnels/underground infrastructure all the time. It was the developer's decision to make the site an awkward site and build an equally awkward tower on a podium.

If they wanted to build an 80 story tower on that site that might have been different to incur the much higher costs for a much higher benefit. This building came out looking very nice and most would think it is. Could have been a few stories higher but otherwise it is fine.

While it's exciting to see plans coming to fruition, especially given the height which we all know is non-existent in Ottawa, the proposal is being put forward by Claridge.

For those that don't know, Claridge is notorious for cheaping out and delivering such architectural marvels such as these:
