actually its gives off a very dense city vibe when you're walking past it... I was walking past it the other day and was like OH YEAH! This is here now... looked up and massive skyscraper... very cool

it's imposing driving down Wells. Helps fill out the NW quadrant of the skyline for sure, and its new partner will help more

Good call! Though it looks kinda upside down. Needs the 'Y' portion on top...

They installed one section rightside up. There's one in the shadow of the left vent where the smooth 'Y' is 180° from the rest of them.

I've seen worse too, but my benchmark isn't comparing against the worst out there...The massing is fine on the podium (or as good as can be expected) but it's ugly. The brick looks cartoonish and what's with the horizontal brick ribbon? And the windows seem out of scale for the building. And it looks worse in person than in pictures. Disappointing.

The municipal device can be used either way but it has different meaning. I believe a "Y" signifies Chicagos Civic or commercial achievement and an upside down Y signifies engineering dominance or the taming of nature for man's use. So you saw upside down Y punched on the old Division bridge but would see a regular Y on a commercial building or a city building. So in theory I guess that means they put it in upside down?

Looks like Union West will be starting soon

Quote:
ZOM Living to Break Ground on Luxury Chicago Property

Orlando-based ZOM Living will break ground this month on a 357-unit apartment community in the swiftly expanding, highly sought area directly west of Chicago’s Loop downtown district. Union West will be situated in the West Loop-Fulton Market enclave, at the intersection of West Washington Blvd. and North Sangamon St. It will consist of two Class AA, Green Globes-Certified residential towers atop a three-story podium.

Can someone repost a render of the H20 site? I remember it going through a few different designs but not sure what the final product was.

The Homewood Hilton glass almost looks like a duplicate color of Roosevelt's in the distance.

Only 2 new construction highrises.

I found an article stating that the third building was also a midrise but got chopped down to 1 story. And the NIMBY dipshit squad got the parking ratio increased.

But it’s still a very good, relatively parking-lite devopment.

Other renderings I’ve seen are of a grayish-charcoal color. Not sure which one they will end up going with
