Is there something new here? These look like the same renderings posted 2 months ago back on page 1 of this thread.

While you would likely be able to see the proposed development from the Interprovincial (aka Alexandra) Bridge, it would be well to the right of the Supreme court building, so it wouldn't affect the classic view. It is true it would be in line with the Library from Major's Hill Park, but given the distance and relative elevations (both Major's Hill Park and LeBreton Flats are lower then Parliament Hill), the tower might be hidden (I don't know for sure though).

We might be making a big mistake by not burying the rail line now while we had the chance to do it right.
RendezVous LeBreton plan to cover the LRT line west of Booth St. (until about City Centre Ave). I am not aware of any plans to cover it east of Booth but the value for doing so is low because it runs parallel to the aqueduct, so there will be accessibility issues anyway (unless both are covered). A pedestrian bridge would likely be adequate.

Based on the preliminary sketch of the new Central Library, I feel they might cover the O-Train trench as part of the project.

Possibly, but that would likely be only about 200 m of track. The last aprox. 150 m to Booth wouldn't be on Library land. Now I would love to see that capped with a pedestrian tunnel from Pimisi station to the library, but who would pay for it?

Claridge Homes has submitted their application to permit a development concept of five high-rise mixed-use buildings ranging in height from 25 to 45 storeys. The concept includes approximately 1950 residential dwelling units, and 21,500sq.m of commercial space.

The subject site is located east of Booth Street, between Fleet Street to the north, and the heritage aqueduct and confederation LRT line to the south. East of the subject site exists the first two phases of the “East Flats” neighbourhood constructed by Claridge Homes. The site is approximately 2.1 hectares, and with the exception of a sales centre, is currently vacant.

Are these actual proposed architectural drawings? Because 🞵🞵🞵 🞵🞵🞵🞵, that 45 storey tower is ugly.

If this were a developer with a solid track record of good quality developments then this would be exciting. But the fact it's Claridge almost guarantees this one will come out a disappointment.

In the fourth rendering from the top, the lower floors of the tallest building look gross from Booth Street. Looks like they borrowed some of the windows from some of the 1970's downtown office buildings. That building also looks gross from the park in the rendering above that.

Is brutalist design back as a trend in other cities?

Hope there will be MUCH needed improvements.

Cadillac Fairview vs Claridge in a fist fight, who wins?

*Checkout CF terrible bait n' switch in Montreal if you don't get the reference.
