I didn't have high hopes given the developer/architect combo, but this project has been a most pleasant surprise.

Really? I think it's awful. Who wants to live in something that looks like pile of shipping containers?

I think it will age poorly, too.

But can it really age poorly when it looks so bad right now?

Still looks way better than the tonnes of Vancouver Specials and 3-storey walkups all over this city. This is one little step up. I give it a thumbs up.

I can see why it may not be some people's cup of tea but I like it. the shipping container idea is a cool nod to the neighbourhood and the erratic facades give it a Rotterdam vibe.

The closer this gets to completion, the more it looks like temporary housing, a la sea-cans at Main and Terminal.

I predict in a few years that this project will be the poster child for WTF awards.

I like it too.

Is that retail on the very bottom? I wonder how that will do, not really a retailed area

It's not really an "anything" area.

I think he means around the back at grade below the viaduct.
I think there's some sort of mixed light industrial / warehousing component to the project.

The retail frontage are a lot different than on the rendering -
(they look more like a mini-storage)
but the large blank areas above each unit allow for good signage,
unlike most modern retail units.
