Yeah, I doubt Lot 2 gets redeveloped any time soon. It may not be the densest, but it at least gets pretty productive use through all of the restaurants/retail/entertainment venues that are housed within.

Are you serious?! Lot 2 is only 10 years and couple months old. I don't see this part of LA Live going away. If anything, redevelopment or new restaurants, but that's about it.

Zero chance. ESPN has invested millions in making LA Live their west coast headquarters, which is located in that building. If anything, AEG should knock down the dumb movie theatre taking up a whole block.

Why on earth would you talk about knocking the theaters down? I love that movie complex and so do alot of other people. Thats the best thing at LA Live imo.

There have been iterations of the convention center revamp that have shown a hotel tower on Lot 1, but there haven't been any serious proposals. Lot 2 is developed and don't expect it to be redeveloped any time soon (re: our lifetimes).

Movie theatres draw in alot of people. Every city wants a movie theatre downtown, even in more established downtowns like DC or Chicago.

I wonder when will Onni tear down that office building, surprised they didn't do it during construction of this. Seeing how the taller tower has a mesh covering its lower portion but the shorter tower just has a concrete slab may mean they are already thinking about its replacement.

^ Pretty sure the office building is part of the development and one of the reasons why they were able to build so high, using the remaining air rights of the office building, in addition to some transferred air rightes from the convention center. So don't think that's going anywhere at any time.

I'm admittedly not a fan of the tops (a bit too busy for my tastes), but I'll reserve judgement for the final product, as I genuinely think that Level turned out better than the renders. I do like that they wrap the parking garage in residential units on the street sides. That alone should be worth any funkiness in design at the top.

People. I don't have a problem with movie theaters. That movie theater just 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 from an architectural and land use standpoint. Between the current theater site and the adjoining parking structure, you'd have plenty of room to incorporate a movie theater into a newer building/entertainment complex expansion.

Something taller than 3 stories for heaven's sake.

Amazing. What a drastic improvement in 40 years or so.

Regarding Onni.. Much much better than the previous renderings, but nothing extraordinary. Another Level, which as colemonkee said, came out much better than the renderings. Good infill

Its just so odd how Onni decided against having the deck line not align with the current office build that's there. Like they purposely made the concrete slab overshadow their own office building. You would figure if it were staying, they would have made the connection between both properties more unison.

Well, it won't be such a huge deal when viewed from street level and I'd argue it would look even better for the deck view itself to not align so you dont have a view of the roof unless right by the edge. Personally, I love the office building design. Just needs cleaned up. Glad they kept it!

The CC was built & opened in 1971, so the pic appears to be more like from around 1972. It's actually disturbing how unfit dtla was at that time, way below what it should have been as a place to host conventions, tourists, visitors. thank god the past is the past & today is today.

a glimpse of the old CC can be seen in the 1st vid of a condo in one of the metropolis bldgs. the 2nd & 3rd vid aren't too visually interesting, but the third one includes more aural interest, inc ssp brigham yen's voice.

the 11 second mark of this video used as a promotion for ABC TV in 1971 showed a glimpse of dtla when today's city national plaza towers....then the arco towers....were still very new.

Ppl in the local entertainment industry back then didn't have a whole lot to be really happy about when it came to one major part of LA.

Look at how bright are the large outdoor screens at the base of the Circa apt towers on Fig....across from the convention ctr.

Today's dtla is a bit....just a bit....better than your father's dtla. okay, it's actually a whole lot better.
