Things aren't as bad for the Calgary folks in that section these days, only because Calgary is in a downturn. when things pick up and you guys start posting too many positive things about Calgary, the knives would be back out soon enough. Don't kid yourself, the people there haven't changed.

The fundamental problem with the Canada section is it's only about 3 dozen regulars (3 or 4 people from each region or major city), who are are there all the time, and they all love what they love.
They make darn sure nobody says something inaccurate or posts something that makes their city look better than the others. The whole section is nothing more than a thinly veiled "hooray for my city and my culture" discussion. It's never going to amount to anything more than that.

There's a lot of jealousy and downright hatred toward Calgary and Alberta in the Canada forum and probably has been since the start. There's no need to wait for things to get better here. Some of the posters in that forum have an unhealthy hatred toward Albertans.

Yeah that was where it was, his picture was also gone I think. Possible if people want attention they could put that. It was yellow print though I think kind of like how the mods have different coloured print.

He was def suspended. Not surprising as he likes to get 'involved' in discussions. Anyone from Calgary who hangs at the Canada section is gonna get suspended eventually. Boris, Chadillac, Spring200, and Surreal were all suspended at one time iirc.

Surreal and Boris were never suspended. Boris had a self imposed exile for about a year after a period of heavy bickering. Spring2008 and Chadillac were suspended at one time, can't recall the details. Anyhow all 4 are over at SRC now, so it's a moot point.

I actually like the Canada section. I have certain threads I stick to more than others to avoid some mouth breathing idiots (such as in the Justin Trudeau thread) but overall the discussion is much more thoughtful than it tends to be here nowadays.

Boris' self imposed exile was more of a hissy fit than anything. People weren't agreeing with him enough and he didn't like it.

I post in the Canada section more than here as there is usually something to actually discuss there, and it's definitely not as bad as it used to be. Only time I got suspended was for making fun of Vancouver during the Riots in 2011 lol.

Laval, Hamilton and Mississauga get trashed plenty. These days Okotoks bears the brunt of the AB trashing followed by Edmonchuck.

There’s always something to discuss in the Canada section, but it’s rarely anything worthwhile. No matter how civil it may seem today, it’s still mostly the same group of asshats.

I remember that. I don’t remember what the reason was, but I do remember the self-imposed exile lol. There was also Chadillac’s hissy fit, but then he came back and had another one, so we a bonus replay that time.
