Anyone else find it strange how little of the development is proposed to integrate with Bankhead Station and Donald Lee Hollowell?

I agree this will be a boon to the area and probably drive mixed use development even further west in the city. Just really hoping for good street activation and integration with the transit network. Proctor Creek Greenway is a great project and I hope we start to see better land use development patterns in along it, even with that major power corridor running through the area.

Also hoping there is ample stormwater runoff/flood zone/environmental planning going on with this project. Last thing we want is cause even more flood damage to the surrounding neighborhoods.

For so many reasons I would not indulge in...I TOTALLY agree. This is so much deeper for moving the city forward than a lot of people on here would understand. I hope this happens and for further development of the area.

I didn't realize the images presented yesterday are for just Phase I. As a matter of fact, I didn't even realize this project is going to be developed over a # of phases. So if my math is correct, Phase I is 39% of the project and Phase I is f'en huge. What is interesting is why are they including a large full service hotel in the middle of nowhere. This leads me to believe the developer(s) already have a prospect in the works.

Rumor - I have heard from a couple of my good sources Google is looking at Atlanta to build a 2,000+ employee campus. This may be the project they are targeting.....TBD. Click on the link for more details and pictures. Seriously - this project is the 🞵🞵🞵🞵.

On Monday the dual-branded Marriott across from the Fox (Peachtree and Ponce) filed their planning SAP. No word if they made any changes based on the DRC review.

I agree. But they should - it's unacceptibe for that historic corner. I honestly think I could develop a more attractive site-sensitive drawing / plan. There are so many ways that building could relate to its surroundings - color, texture, shape, set back, materials,windows - and it does none.

Curious if you all think the recent Delta and anti-LGBT adoption news out of Georgia has weakened Atlanta’s bid for Amazon HQ2. Serious convo, not looking for boosterism, because from up here in NYC the city/state’s image has taken a ding.

Definitely a black eye, but it's crazy to me. Delta was probably never going to get that tax break anyway and the NRA snub just simply gave our government an excuse to deny it. Let's not forget, the $38 million tax cut would have directly harmed the Clayton County School System so I was never really on board with it either. Also, Cagle will likely not become governor due to his antics (fine by me!).

The anti-LGBT adoption thing is yet another instance of our legislature looking to solve issues that don't really exist, but Gov Deal will veto it so it won't happen.

I agree with all of the above; however, at a time when Amazon is most likely (of course none of us know) narrowing down the field I'd say, yes, Atlanta has been dinged by all of the national negative press. You can't read a single article about the Delta tax or the anti-LGBT adoption 🞵🞵🞵🞵 without Amazon also being mentioned.

No doubt, our Lt. Gov's statement was as dumb as it gets. Unfortunately, until we get a statehouse and governor who recognize Atlanta we will continue to have this problem. In any case, many other potential Am2 possibilities also have political and or economic problems as well. In the end, I don't believe it will affect whether or not ATL gets the headquarters.

I think Amazon made their decision long ago, and this "competition" is just to get billions in tax breaks. They already knew Georgia is led by a conservative government. This Delta/NRA thing changes nothing. If they already picked Atlanta, it's still Atlanta. If they already picked somewhere else, it's still somewhere else.

If Amazon chooses Georgia, it will also change demographics to potentially turn Georgia into a purple state. That is a pretty big political outcome for someone that owns the Washington Post.
