The LCDs in the stations cost $40K CAD each, courtesy of the No vote. Assuming we want an LCD over every Canada Line train door (similar to other metros that adopted them), that's $40,000 x 12 doors x 18 trainsets, which ends up being $8,640,000, or 10% extra cost. I'm no accountant, but I'm pretty sure something else has to be axed in order to get those screens.

And that cost is just materials. Now you got installation, maintenance, replacement, emergency repairs due to vandalism or something fucking up, etc.

As far as within trains, I do not see it as a problem whatsoever and I'm sure if it was we would hear about it. So no I don't think our nonexistent on vehicle graffiti problem (no widespread issues) is not a reason for us to not get nice modern features.
The reason why you don't see it is because Translink actually does a decent job of repairing / removing most of it (save for a few locations).

You were never dragging India down? That's pretty much a textbook example of doing just that.

Let's at least wait until the Broadway extension's finished.
Mercifully Jordan Bateman has a new job - now we have Kris Sims. Speaking of which, why exactly do the CTF get so much attention - they're a non-profit with only a handful of members, only one of which is in BC.

I could easily see spending money on screens in trains treated the same way.
It's pretty much a given that that's exactly what would happen. Someone will complain about any 'non-essential' spending while pointing at things that are needed that we don't have funding for - partly because of people trying to nickel and dime us for everything...

Damn things look like bomb shelters.
I've gotten vocal at TransLink as I'd much rather they spend money on decent looking stations instead of putting a piece of public art inside it. Hell they could paint the interiors of Canada Line underground stations - except that someone would complain about it being 'non-essential' and how that money could be spent on X instead.

Next we are going to have Reece fight for genuine leather seats because it'll make people's butts more comfortable. Don't worry, it'll only be a fraction of a cost so it'll cost nothing!!! (or so he claims)

"Why won't Translink get leather seats?? Trains are so ghetto without them!!"

Now who's cherry picking - this is what Dehli's Hyundai Rotem trains look like.

There have been people complaining. Anytime there's a line being planned for anywhere in the region, two types of people make an appearance:

1) the nimbys screaming 'not in my backyard' vs
2) the people who complain about it not being in their area so why should they pay anything towards it

Those people then complain about any upgrades done to the line and the stations. Anything beyond the bare minimum gets branded as waste.

Those same people should keep their mouths shut. They'll get something out of it.

For the record, there was a short period where I would ride the SkyTrain with an office chair so I could always guarantee myself a seat.
Transit police do NOT like you doing this. Boston doesn't like you doing this either.
