^^Which I think we all knew coming into this. Not a skyline changer. 300 Main or, gasp, SkyCity, would be the skyline changers.

*Dreaming* Wouldn't it be nice if in a few years, TN decides they don't want to waste possible revenues and fills in the CTV parking and empty space here maybe by extending the CTV building or building a new one. Then you have 4 corners of usable space with Rudy's (even though windows covered), new building, Hull's replacement, TNS all on one corner...

That would be a miraculous scenario... a corner with 4 buildings flush to the sidewalk, and even more remarkably, all 4 buildings being at least somewhat recent vintage? (1 brand new, two from the mid 2000s and one from the early 1980s)

Noticed today there is scaffolding (or equivalent) spanning across Hargrave where the skywalk will go.

Yeah I had heard this part of the project was fairly imminent. City Place is making alterations to accommodate this walkway in the NW corner of the second floor.

TNS = all filler, no killer.

It looks like the residential tower will be getting topped out once the next level is poured.

So beyond any additional mechanical framework, it is about as high as it's getting.

I really have a feeling the whole north end of the 2nd floor of cityplace is going to be integrated in this somehow. Don't know why else CentreVenture would be moving after only a couple years when they went through the trouble of installing windows.

CentreVenture was on the other side of City Place, the east side. Skywalk is coming in on the west side.

There is the elevator core in between, with the small retail space (Liberty Tax) in there as well. So I don't think there is much opportunity to open up that north end any more.

Yes I'm aware of that. But the Skywalk to the arena needs to be redone, so wouldn't be surprised to see something else going on here like maybe moving the box office to CV.

It may be that CV is simply (and finally) 'right-sizing' by moving out of what I imagine is pretty expensive space, and that their previous era of flashy, prominent offices in the centre of whatever area downtown they're trying to revitalize is officially over.

They have been working on building the scaffolding for the last two nights when I have been getting off at 01:30am.

I also noticed that Graham ave on the north sidewalk side has been torn up in places. Not sure what is going on there unless its for underground services for the building.

It was more of a comment referring to people wishing it were higher. The final heights of the buildings were never in doubt - so, it was never going to "kill" it was only going to "fill". IMO anyway.

And yes, I am very satisfied that it got rid of the "park like a rockstar" surface lot - that was such an embarrassing sign. As if surface parking right next to an arena downtown is something to celebrate!

If by the looks of the renders with the forms now being the floor of the final level, the ceiling and significantly tall mechanical floor should take the building to the top of the frame in the construction cam view.

^ It's cool to think that we're only approaching the halfway point of TNS' development.

And who knows, if the Archdiocese of Winnipeg can ever hatch its plans for development, maybe there will be even more to come on that site... but that said, there isn't much space between the office tower and the cathedral.... it would have to be a very thin building between the two.
