Interesting that they chose to stick with the pre-recession scheme. Nevertheless, I'm excited to see something moving forward on this property.

They're definitely not working with the old pre-recession scheme.

That's a different site. The Metropolitan Center is across Spring from that.

They control most of the block on both sides of Spring Street now- which is all part of the same project; albeit the project will probably be developed in several phases.

I went by this yesterday at night and thought the entire facade looked like warped, wet dry wall. Not sure if the side was supposed to look textured or what, but I was completely off-put. You can clearly see the break in material at each floor.

Yeah, that part looks rough (as does the 1st grade art project, but I digress). Also, is there no retail facing West Peachtree at all? If not, that's a missed opportunity, IMO.

Every developer should take a note from Novare's playbook and use painted cement vs. stucco because it look 100% better.

I agree. With the HENSE mural and the lighting effects, this is a parking podium I actually want to look at.

Yea, this building is just not good looking at all. The height is nice, but that's about it.

And I’m an unknown local Midtown resident who sees it and thinks it looks like a first grader’s art project.

And people with opinions like yours are an important part of the artistic process. If everybody liked it, it wouldn't be art, just decoration.

It's really a poorly planned facade objectively. The poorly finished stucco area with the three up lights--the one part they didn't decorate--is the most visible part of the facade. Once you get any distance east on 14th it's the only part of the facade you can actually see. The mural faces the wrong way for traffic on a one way street to see it, and 14th is pretty narrow. Most drivers will never be aware it exists, and once you get any distance north on W Peachtree it's obscured from pedestrians by trees. And it's sitting behind the power line--ew.

Big letdown of a building imo, but bring on the Whole Foods and the whole discussion will be moot!
