P-S: I'm trying to find out where that picture was taken, so we can see that vantage view today.
Corner of Peel and De La Gauchetière, before Place Bonaventure and Chateau Champlain were build.

What a blighted hellhole this part of downtown was. Wow.

Damn Martin, that's why you're so good. I thought it was much further out.

Always thought the Manitoba Hydro building was amazing. Doesn't get enough accolades. Another 20 stories would have been something.

Love that Enbridge building. Probably in my top 10 large office buildings in the country.

One thing Winnipeg does well is being able to look a legit big city from certain angles. Often times it's astounding. It's stock of early 19th century skyscrapers allows it to sometimes look more "big city" than it's larger peers like Calgary or Edmonton.

Winnipeg has tons of character and great urban bones. It gives the impression of being a solid and strong city where a plunge in oil prices or a collapse of the housing market wouldn't devastate the city. The is a real sense of permanence about the place.
