Maybe so but, home owners don't like it. It's dark and discolours.


How durable are these window tints? Will they look like shit in 10 years?

You're in Toronto. Most condos have tinted windows. Doesn't seem to stop people from buying. And tinted windows don't change over time. Also when your inside looking out you don't notice it. Seriously have you never looked out of a tinted window before?

At this point, I go by the ABS principle, Anything But Seafoam.

The gold is a nice change.

It looks nice, but I prefer clear to maximize light penetration into my unit. Tints reduce it.

This building will stand out quite a bit when it is completed.

You're inferring all tints are the same. They aren't. Nothing keeps people from buying but, that doesn't keep them from bitching. Window colours have gotten lighter over time in Toronto. That's not coincidence. Perhaps the only tinted windows you've ever looked out of are the light seafoam type.

Dark colours don't darken. Unnatural colours don't distort. How does that make sense?

Coloured glass should last forever but glass that achieves colour and reflection through a coloured film will wear out and discolour over time. Is this glass coloured gold over is it achieved with a tinted film applied to it?

The one behind will be shorter and I believe also different in some ways (like no podium.)

Right. I get what your saying although those are different than windows. I know when I've looked out of the windows say in wall center I didn't notice the tint at all. Maybe it's how the windows are made

You don't need colour variation in glass, or even variety at all, to have pleasing architecture and cityscape. Gold House is a sad sign of the times.

One Wall doesn't stand out like gold/yellow. Any discolouration wouldn't be noticeable. It would make things darker though.

I am speculating there's no room in the budget for an actual gold film or a metal film of any kind. Even vinyl is pricey. There has to be a reason why the whole tower isn't gold. It was either not in the budget or to allow homeowners an opportunity to look out their window and not see everything dyed yellow.

Some of those units may have listings. I also recall that the glass was originally installed backwards. It was yellow; an ugly dark yellow because you were looking into an unlit, unfinished unit.

I couldn't find any. This is an early one in Toronto back when glass had colour. Homeowners did complain when it first began occupancy. It does get a fair amount of sun.
