You know what I find 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 annoying? People who answer somebody’s question by saying, ‘the info is over at SRC’ like seriously get off your 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 🞵🞵🞵 and just go get the info and bring it over, rather than just tell somebody that’s where it is.

I don’t believe there is an actual spam rule, but I know some of the mods have deleted links to SRC, and a few days ago Blaine deleted a bunch of images that were linked to SRC, because they had disappeared and some of the images had changed to construction images from another city. I’m not sure why it happens, but it happened to me when I link to some images directly to SRC they changed to an image saying that bandwidth was restricted or something like that.

The images are actually hosted on SRC. You're using their bandwidth posting them on a competing website.

re MacKimmie; that type of cladding IIRC was precast and would be pretty heavy.

In Seattle there was a project where they added floor(s?) to the top of a tower after replacing heavy cladding with lighter curtain wall. MacKimmie was a library though, so if re-purposed for office use, the structural capacity would be much higher than what office needs. It's probably for O&M savings (e.g. energy costs) and aesthetics.

From their phones or cameras, photos at SkyriseCities are generally user photos hosted on the site. Users take pictures with their phone and upload it directly to the thread. If it’s someone else’s photo, say from Flickr or someplace like that it has the usual link info.

Well that explains why former SSP members like dazzling Dave, evolve, Stephen Avenue, Cyric Who never bothered to post anything here, are suddenly posting lots of pictures there.

I'm not sure why you feel the need to inject F-bombs in your post? An old saying I'd like to pass on to you. 'You may not be judged by god when you use the F word, but.... you will be judged by your peers' (Pat Boone)

Anyway, regarding your post, I've heard this sentiment here before, but don't understand it. Why go off on someone else for not doing something you could do if they feel it's so important??

And what's the point of going to another forum to get updates updates? Eventually everyone at SSP will rely on SRC for updates and nobody will bother to do it themselves. Also, everyone will see what they're missing - I know because I went over to SRC this morning to see what's going on, only to discover all the things I've been missing. It's only my opinion, but if this thread (or construction section in general) is going to be revived from its deathbed, people will need to step up big time.

I would suggest getting a flickr account and app for your smartphone. That way you can take photos with your smart phone and upload them to flickr. Then link those imagees to SSP, it's super easy to do and you probably have more control and ownership of your images on flickr than uploading then onto SRC. Anyways, that's what I do when I make photo threads.

That's pretty much what I said with the other images from SRC that were deleted. I might have left them in, but once they were disappearing, it was a no-brainer.
