ATLANTA | Development Thread VI

Not to quibble, but the issue isn't affordability but rather the price/quality relationship. Every individual and business has different needs and perspectives on it. I think a lot of us see the relationship as overall very favorable in Atlanta for many purposes. Probably if you're looking to build a team of securities app developers then New York is a better fit, but in the current context I'm not sure that's even true anymore .

Not at all true-- affordability is one of the primary considerations when companies look at re-locating or locating facilities. Hence the flight from high-price cities like New York, LA or San Francisco.

Lol...millions of people flaunt to these cities. There’s a lot to do in those cities. I get some people like the smaller town or the small city feel. That’s why people find cities like Austin a great city...but let’s not discredit big cities as far as people wanting to be there.

Does anyone know when this shit is going to get finished??? It's as if they have only one guy building the whole thing. I'm fairly certain that this broke ground 4 YEARS AGO. What in the hell is taking so long??

InB4 they had to do the underground parking. That portion of the project was completed well over a year ago. This is just a lowrise for Christ's sake.

I know, but I drove by it today and it's a very high quality building. no cheap looking materials, great street presence. I think it will be worth the wait.

You have to include Downtown. Atlanta, especially as a skyline is not just the Midtown section. I’ve said numerous times in here Downtown Atlanta is very significant and important to the skyline and the overall urbanity of the city.

Small... that’s roughly 1/3 of the skyline of the 38th largest city in the US/9th largest metro. Looks pretty fair to me..

Not exactly sure what the LOL is about--but anyway-- the point being that cost/ affordability are key components of most location scenarios and Atlanta has benefited greatly from its relative affordability. And yes those aforementioned world cities are wonderful-- some of my favorite places. I would love a second home there when my salary tipples-- until then Ill just visit a lot... For the record I don't like small towns either and wish ATL were bigger and denser and more cosmopolitan, etc. These expensive cities are however losing domestic population and are growing only by immigration-- this has been a trend for a very long time.

A re-zoning application was filed today for the Star Metals Offices site at 1041 Howell Mill Rd. to allow for mixed-use development.
