That's not the worst. If the materials suck it could look bad though. Especially if there's lots of spandrel.

Modern architecture can really be a tough sell in a traditional neighbourhood which full of typical subdivision homes that most people are familiar and feel comfortable with. The sharp geometric form makes too much a contrast.

In many places though a single family home is not subject to any review based on the look of the building. As you may be aware, in Ottawa the review would be in inner areas if the proposed new building has a front door orientation, landscaping orientation and parking/driveway location that meets the majority of nearby homes etc. If you meet the overall dominant characteristic you're ok. As long as you meet height, setbacks, etc that are prescribed in the zoning you're fine for a single family home in most parts of Ottawa without the City having the ability to review the look or colours of the building.

In this building - it would be hard to finds the pill box - making it more dangerous for people that are up to no good - that get too close.

It's not great but I don'thate it. Mississauga could do with a bit of colour.

That Mississauga proposal may be the worst modern proposal I've ever seen.

Ford Nayshawn. The least educated sort of voter who will whore themselves out for this rich family. Most likely for free hotdogs and cheap beer.

the ugliest, stupidest, least amusing Canadian caricature in history. He is one of the main reasons I stopped watching Hockey Night In Canada years ago. He's migsian, blacktarian.

Rednek nashion!! Beloved by Kudetah!!

What kind of simpleton gives different dogs the same fucking name? Dumb Cherry names all his dogs "Blue".

That's not bad at all, though it would look better if that flashy scarlet was replaced by pretty much any color.

I can't stand him either. I actually find him to be quite un-Canadian behaviour-wise.

Don is interesting. He gets labeled a xenophobe, which he rightly is, but also a racist which I don't think he is at all. He stands up for any Canadian no matter their race or background which I find endearing and dont think he gets enough credit for. Your typical white old guy xenophobe wouldn't love PK Subban, Wayne Simmonds, Nazem Kadri, etc but these are some of his favourite players. He goes out of his way to stand up for those guys when other people are not. He had a feature on a black player on HNIC again last night which he seems to do a lot of in relaton to how many there are in the league.

Basically I think he is harmless. He just simply loves anything and anyone Canadian.

Isn't it ironic that if you reproduced the exact same personage and had him born an hour to the south in Watertown, New York, and if he held court on ESPN as a result, he'd be denounced by many of the same Canadians who love him as an example of all that's wrong with the U.S.

Well, except for Canadians like me and lio... who are... between a quarter and a fifth of all Canadians.

I feel a bit better now that he's no longer technically a Canadian government employee who was getting his 500k paycheque from a Crown corporation.

I don't think Don has a problem with French Canadians but he definitely has a problem with separatists. He also just holds a grudge against the Habs because they kicked his Bruins ass year after year, lol.

Don Cherry's behaviour isn't un-Canadian, it's just boorish. There are millions of Canadians who act the way he does.

Good characterization. Don is actually quite the Canadian patriot.

Yes he is a boor, and he can rub a lot of Canadians the wrong way (including me occasionally), but he is at least sincere in his beliefs, and I agree with TownGuy, I don't believe he is a racist per se. I do agree that he may be a xenophobe, but that's not the same thing.

I also think that his main problem is with Quebec separatists, not Quebecers themselves, although at times I think he confuses those two groups, which is unfortunate. It probably comes down to the point that he is an unabashed and unquestioning patriot, and he finds the ambiguity that many Quebecers feel towards Canada genuinely infuriating. This colours his opinions.......

His issue seems to be more the result of anti-regionalism as opposed to anti-separatism. He's had enough exposure to realize his idea of Canada doesn't extend much beyond Southern Ontario and he's not comfortable with that. He seemed bewildered when he first discovered July 1 is Memorial Day in Newfoundland, for example, and only came around to it when he realized it's war-related and pre-dates Confederation. He's complained about everything from eating seal meat ("barbarians") to having Europeans in the CHL.

Separatism is just one conscious choice for how to remedy Canada's regionalism. It's the regionalism that he seems to have trouble with - his natural reflex is to assume everyone from Victoria to St. John's is like someone from Guelph, and to the extent they're not doesn't matter, or is even negative.
