The City of Vancouver does collect money from all the developments, but it isn't enough to spend tens of millions saving a few old houses. In Southeast False Creek it's used for public facilities like the Community Centre and parks, providing new non-market housing, and childcare facilities. There are better examples of those sorts of house a few blocks south, and protected as heritage buildings in a residential context.

What the hell is this? Why is the City of Vancouver run by such brainlets? This is the most perfect, most ideal place for building apartment buildings in the city, and they're not even doing anything with it. Who thought this was a good idea?
